Clearly a labor of love, this sophomore effort from Turturro (a better actor than helmer), about fables and foibles of a tightly knit acting troup at turn of the century New York, is structurally messy and unevenly acted; a step fown from his debut Mac
The line between truth and illusion is blurred so persuasively that for a moment or two, you may even believe that a romantic costume drama could stand up to all those special-effects blockbusters in the dog days of summer.
This movie had alot of twists and turns and really kept you guessing which direction it was going.\nAt first I found it a bit confusing starting out and seemed to drag out a bit in areas but overall I liked it and I always enjoy a movie that can keep you in suspense and surprising twists.
Whipping along at speed, with elaborate camera movements and rousing speeches, this knows how to engage a crowd. It's corny, of course, but a guilty pleasure: romantic, diverting, with mildly amusing modern gags.
The movie is one of my favorites and the blu-ray is awesome. The only complaint I have is that this blu-ray doesn't come with any special features. I personally like having the special features, but if you don't care about the features, then this movie is a great buy with a great price. Site to store is a perfect option!
Dark City trades in such weighty themes as memory, thought control, human will and the altering of reality, but is engaging mostly in the degree to which it creates and sustains a visually startling alternate universe.
Wal-Mart's price and shipping costs were excellent and I rated the product accordingly. As for the movie itself...well...\nI love good fiction and fantasy. This movie obviously has an undeserved cult following and I fell for the overwhelmingly good reviews. Silly me. Bad plot, bad direction, terrible acting by Kiefer Sutherland, in particular. The rest of the cast did as good a job as they could with a terrible script and the even more terrible plot. I was, needless to say, extremely disappointed. I resold it (at a loss) as soon as I was done watching it.
