I had the DVD of this film and it was no better than watching a VHS, poor picture quality. But the Blue-ray release was obviously redigitized from a master with a good encoder. It was just like seeing it in the theatre again. Great picture, even on a 60\" plasma TV.
One of Jim Stewarts best movies and along with the supporting cast members it adds up to a fantastic movie, one you can watch with the young and old showing the will to survive and ingenuity to produce a working airplane from a wrecked one, if you like this type of movie buy it you can't go wrong.
Gene Wilder has such a way with understated comedy (see Young Frankenstein) and Harrison Ford has the roughness needed to portray the wild west (see Raiders of the Lost Ark). The two of them in a comedy was just a stroke of genius. A great movie at an incredible price. You've got to add it to your "classics" collection.
