Story was originally conceived as an episode of "Tales From the Crypt," and that is perhaps what it should have remained, as the thinness of the conceit shows throughout, painfully so in the first half.
I love this movie. I have wanted in blu-ray for a long time. The plus to this version is that it comes with the director 's cut. The only thing that I didn't like was the cover. I like the alternate cover with the ghost coming out of the white wall but that's a small nit pick. It's a great addition to my movie collection.
The film transfer was exceedingly grainy at times, and did not hold up well on a high definition display. However, considering the age of the film, this may be acceptable (although I have seen video transfers of other movies of the same age and even older that were much clearer).\n\nMy main complaint is the utter lack of special features. This disc includes an audio commentary with Ray Harryhausen, as well as interpolated interviews with some of the films stars. However, other than the commentary (and a few trailers), this DVD is barren.
I ordered this dvd on Nov. 28th, and they stated that it would be arriving at the store between Dec. 6 thru the 11th, and as of today Dec. 14th, I still have not received it and I had no tracking information on it at that time, but with enough calling the store, they finally sent me a tracking number on Dec. 12th, and to make matters worse when I called the store no-one had any information on my order at all and they were not helpful at all, as a matter of fact they were very rude. The reason that I had it sent site to store was because I have used this service before and ordered closer to Christmas and received it before the actual date that they had given. I guess from now on I will pay for shipping and handling when I order from them again because they don't fulfill there part on delivery and I don't want to deal with the rude workers again.....
Was sent the wrong item via Wal Mart ship to store. Huge hassle to pick it up, and bigger hassle to return it (you cannot exchange it!)
Total - almost 2 hours of my time spent with nothing to show for it!
The movie is exceptional and this Blu-ray issue is very nice. But the service from Walmart Site-to-Store leaves much to be disired. Movie sat in store for 7 days before I was notified. Then have to wait 10-15 minutes for CSR at pick-up station every time I want to pick up an item. This will be my last order from Wakmart.com
Awesome movie ! It is really interesting and it helped me see the significance of life and the love which one has towards his\/her children ! It also made me cry sadly this story is related to true real life events :( I highly recommend people to watch this movie , my husband and I enjoyed watching it with our 2 year old daughter and son (:
I got this as a gift from a friend who knows I love LOR. I dont own a blu ray but she was able to find the extended edition for the first and last LOR on line at WM. The price was crazy cheap. It may not be blu ray but the picture is wonderful anyway.I will probably never watch the other DVD again.
