The movie was okay for me nothing great, my wife loved it and it\u2019s a great family movie. Ended where I thought it was unfinished with the story. All and all glad I purchased it and it was a great price for a great movie. Would highly recommend DVD for family movie time.
I wish they would have followed the book but then the movie would have been a mini-series! Think about THAT!! Love it! This movie is really bad but therein it becomes a classic. The performers the good the bad and the really awful, pop surrealistic fashion and a wobbly tranquilized theme song. What could be worse or in the case of Dolls better! The music is bad most of the acting is bad and the cameramen were either cross eyed or asleep. I have to love the industrial strength pancake and the refrigerator colored eye shadow.Olive green appliances and makeup. You wouldn't clash with your appliances.Every 60's reference in this movie is a part of me. Not the drugs and u-hum romance I was just a little girl. Patty Duke going from too cute to terror howling in an alley. I kept waiting for a wino to pop up and yell \"SHUDUPPP!\" The flawlessly beautiful Sharon Tate her face was the one you watched so tragic rest in peace. So there was a bestseller, fashion and some history of our times. I didnt understand the book (I was 10 or 11)but my eyes popped bigger than one of Helen Lawson's champagne bottles! Thanks!
There is no profanity in this movie! Hallelujah. Don't expect Hollywood graphics. But it is a good, wholesome movie.\nA small group leader takes a group of kids camping and after an argument between two of the girls, he decides to tell them the story of Hosea. The story he tells is much embellished with details that are not specific in the bible, but it's done in such a way, that it helps get the point of the the story of Hosea across to the kids.\nOne kid even says, \"I don't mean to interrupt you, but I've read Hosea, and I don't remember any of this.\" The leader admits that the boy is correct, but that he's just setting up one possibility to how the events that led to Gomer being auctioned off, could have happened.\nParts of the film are actually filmed on site in Nazareth, Israel which brings great authenticity to it. The book of Hosea is a good message of God's Love for His children even when they are unfaithful, and this movie does a good job in bringing that part of the truth to life.
I own Patty Duke's first book which is well written and it goes into her struggles with mania and depression along with her acting career. It's called Call me Anna. This book is written with a mental health professional and goes much deeper into the signs and various treatment forms for manic depressive illness---which is now called Bi-Polar. But the signs of mental illness and therapies are mostly the same ranging from medication that has been around for years vs new therapies. The book was written a while ago so there aren't references to some of the brand new drugs but the commentary gives the reader somewhere to start. There are case studies if you will of patients who are struggling with the same illness. Ms. Duke interjects her thoughts and ideas about how to lead a more balanced life through medication and routine.Sleep overall health diet routine ect. This is really helpful if you have a loved one suffering with mental illness as it can be stigmatizing.Written with care and clarity but no fluff.Take your medicine just like you would for high blood pressure!! Be well!!! Thanks a lot.
