I have been buying really high end dog food for my pedigreed German Shepherds (GSD) (four of them) and it gets quite pricey but I always thought it was necessary as they are not just dogs but part of my inner family! Upon a recent visit with my Vet over their yearly checkups we talked about the type of dog food that would be best for them. My Vet stated that Ol'Roy was an extremely good dog food for my GSD's and he informed me to look at the list of ingedients and what was listed first was always the main ingredient. My Vet also informed me that it was important to change up the dog food at least every 6 months along with adding necessary supplements (yogurt, rice, chicken, lamb, eggs - everything cooked not raw) along with the dog food. Ol'Roy's list of ingredients was BETTER than the top dog food brands I had been buying (Iams, etc.). Not only that but the price of Ol'Roy's was 70% LESS!!!! This meant I could supplement more of the other various foods (mentioned earlier) with this substantial savings! Truly the best way to go for my family!!!!
YOU CAN PAY MORE, GET A FANCY NAME, BUT ITS ALL DOG FOOD. THIS BRAND IS AS GOOD AS ANY, OR MOST ANY. THE DOGS LOVE IT, AND THATS THE TEST. IF THEY LIKE IT I LIKE IT, AS TO HEALTH I DON'T KNOW. I'LL KEEP A EYE ON THAT QUESTION. BUT I THINK IT WILL BE OKAY, AND I WILL BUY MORE..
In my store, they sell these treats individually packaged for a dollar. If you have the same option, buy one and see if your dog likes it first (it probably will), then go back and buy the full package. That's what I did.\n\nI have a 70 pound Lab mix and a 40-something pound German Shepherd mix. These last a few minutes.
This is a great product for the money. My only concern is that the second ingredient is high fructose corn syrup. For those of us unfamiliar with ingredient lists the ingredients are listed in order of percent of total volume meaning the product contains more corn syrup than anything besides the first ingredient listed. This cannot be good for our pups. Like another customer mentioned \" it's like eating cupcakes all day.\" On the other hand my little girl loves it. Also its individually packaged servings which are great for travel and ease of portion determination. overall it's pretty decent...
ol'roy beef and cheese moist food has been a life saver. i admit i spoiled my dogs for tooo long, cooking chicken and shredding it over their dry food and then adding a bit of broth. they stopped eating when i stopped giving them their goodies. tried a box of ol'roy and they were satisfied -- much more convenient and less costly!!!
Cesar Beef Filet Mignon and Porterhouse Variety PK
Our 4 month old Shih Tsu puppy loves her Cesar foods. I like that it doesn't smell like dog food. This is a really good thing because we prefer little LeiLani's puppy breath over dog food breath any day.
Been desperate to find something my dog would eat consistently -- she's an old girl, and been with me 14 years. She's doing well on this food. And at least Ol' Roy brand is USA ingredients and assembly. And doesn't list corn meal or corn gluten as an ingredient. (As soon as I see corn, gluten or meal, in anything for my pet, I don't buy it.) I am pleased with this product, and will continue to buy it for my dog.
DON'T REMEMBER WHEN THE FIRST BAG WAS BOUGHT BUT THIS IS THEIR FAVORITE. WITH TWO STANDARDS WE USE A BAG A WEEK. I WISH IT CAME IN A BIGGER BAG AND SO DO THE POODLES. WE DO RUN OUT FOR A DAY ON OCCASION. I HAVE HAD THEM LOOK AT THE EMPTY BOWL AND THEN AT ME AND BACK TO BOWL. THEN IT IS AN IMMEDIATE TRIP TO WALMART FOR MORE.
These treats are Tender! :-) My husband & I got them for our \"daughter\" Blue Chiuaua Coco! She's ten years old, but she still acts like a pup! These treats would be perfect for a. a larger breed, but we just save more $$ out of these large bags! We just break a small bite off of a big strip for Coco! That will make 1 bag of treats last A LOT LONGER for us!!!Yes, I will buy this product again! :-)
I bought these treats to give out to all the dogs living in my community. I thought they were top quality until I found out on the ingredients list that beef was the fourth item listed and the only other item that wasn't total filler was bacon fat. I was very disappointed in the quality and so have the dogs. I wanted a premium treat and that's what I thought I was buying. They call it Lean Beef flavor with Bacon not bacon fat and soy grits and wheat flour with 4 food dyes and 2 acids with water, sugar and some corn flour and natural smoke flavor, not fake. I felt bad for the dogs so I stopped giving it to them. I am going out to find a quality product. Oh, and by the way, Ol' Roy is a Wal-Mart brand. tricked again!
I never tried the Ol' Roy skin and coat formula dog food, but after looking for a new formula to help my dog with her really itchy skin I came across this. At my local Wal-mart, just like the reviews say, it wasn't there. They did however create a new skin and coat formula called 'Lamb Meal and Rice formula'. It's for the dogs skin and coat, and it works so good! I couldn't afford the more pricy dog foods so i researched a lot and found out about this. The price is great, but the quality is wonderful as well. My dogs hair has grown back, she isn't biting at herself anymore. I added the ProPet Skin & Coat food supplement which is 4 dollars at Wal-mart, and within two weeks her hair was back. I got a small bag of the high end dog food but it lasted about a week and was very expensive for the small amount. I think I'll stick to this and stock up. I'd suggest giving it a try!
