My 9 yr old daughter saved up for this when she did not get it for her birthday - today we very excitedly went and got it! I had read all the reviews on it and knew that it must be somewhat difficult, but we are pretty crafty and thought we could handle it!\nThe first thing I noticed was that the instructions were pretty lame. There should have been much more detail in how to line the tattoos up. Applying tattoo eyes & mouth to a doll face was intense enough to warrant more details in the instructions. Sure, if the tattoo goes on the arm or leg crooked or completely in the wrong place, it's not that big of a deal, but eyes way too high up or resting right on the nose or crooked and the face is ruined. We realized after ruining and scraping off 2 sets of face tattoos, that we would only use the lab for the rest of the body, not the face. (And it is not necessary to use for any application, for that matter. Very important: Encourage your daughter to use her least favorite tattoos first - we learned the hard way, so excited to get started, and applied the best first and ruined them.\nFor my younger daughter, who'd also saved up some money and wanted the same thing, we decided to get an add-on pack so she and her sister could share the \"lab\" and tattoos and each have a different doll, as the lab only gives one option for the doll that comes with it. After carefully examining the packages and realizing that they don't come with hair, and trying to figure that out, we finally decided we could possibly use hair from a LIV doll at home to complete her. Nowhere on the package of the add-ons does it actually explain that these are only body parts to add-on, or really to replace body parts of an existing doll; they are NOT add-ons to create more dolls in the \"lab\"! The packaging makes it difficult to realize what you are missing - for instance, you may be missing the thighs of the doll, but have everything else, or the torso, but have everything else. We bought 2 add-on kits and didn't realize until we got home and thought we'd lost the thigh parts to one when we couldn't complete the doll! It doesn't make sense to me that Mattel just doesn't want you to be able to have more than one complete doll and switch the parts around. Especially for almost the cost of a normal doll! I now would recommend that instead of add-ons, just have fun detailing the arms, legs & torso of the regular dolls whose faces are already done! Too stressful for this mama watching my girl's excitement as the tattoo machine is pulled up to reveal.... another crooked face!
This is a great doll! My sister loves MH and has about 10 of them. She was delighted to add Catrine DeMew to her collection. The value and price is great and it did meet my expectations. This product came in about two days before her birthday. Although we did not really like how the accessories got lost so easily. Her hair was smooth but stayed like that for 2 days. But I have to say she was excellent quality and would recommend this to my friends and family.
My daughter wants this one doll for Christmas and I couldn't find it anywhere on the shelf. I ordered it here for like $11 and then found it somewhere else in store for $15 glad I saved a few extra bucks.
While I am not a fan of these dolls, my granddaughter and her friends love them. This doll came with some little accessories and is perfect for her play. It appears to be well made and the shipping from the internet to a local store went without a hitch. It was not offered in any of my local stores, so I used this option for free shipping and it was fast and correct. I would recommend using the internet rather than fighting the crowds if you can't find an item locally.
