True to series form, plot is nearly indiscernible, but this fourth installment in the sci-fi/horror/action franchise created by writer-director Paul W.S. Anderson is the sleekest so far, thanks to 3D and star Milla Jovovich's body-hugging catsuit.
Cheap hits of bang-bang adrenaline occasionally rise up but any rush is quickly tempered by the processed banality lulling you into a coma of fast-food filmmaking. |

At the bottom you will find a negative review where they state that they bought it from Best-Buy and they are returning it....1. Why are you on wal-mart's website leaving a review? 2. You can't return it once it is open! So ignore his review and listen to the other's (including mine) that tell the truth. This movie was great in 3d both at the theater and at home. I would recommend this movie to a friend 3d or not (but I would suggest 3d). Come on....Alice vs Wesker...in 3d;) I hope the next game has 3d!!!Not as good as 1st 3 movies
We bought this movie to prepare for the 5th movie RETRIBUTION (Excellent 3D BTW) but the story was a little disjointed. I think you can see the 5th movie without seeing AFTERLIFE but if you are an Ali Larter fan, this appears to be your last look at her (or is it ?!?!?)

Milla Jovovich still deserves much of the credit for the film's short-term success.
Fans of the games will have fun spotting the Easter eggs on display, but precious little else. Indeed, the chief horror here is the cliffhanger promising a third instalment. |

The script is incoherent and the acting is terrible -- avatars would have been an improvement.
Thuddingly awful. |

I think this Resident Evil was the worse one of the series. Too much combat, not enough talking among the actors. What happened to Clare, her brother & K-Mart? Maybe I missed it because I was getting bored by all of the fighting, nothing was even mentioned about what happened to them. How did the evil head of it all (forgot his name) all of a sudden become human & no longer wanted to kill Alice? I thought he was more powerful than her, therefore, should be able to save the humans? The movie jumped around so much that at times I had no clue what was going on & had to reverse the movie to watch was happened.\n\nTruly did not like this movie at all.Milla Rides Again!!!!
I love the way the writers keep coming up with new ideas and plot lines to the point that each movie stands on it's own. The action, of course, keeps getting better and better and in 3D, well, what more can you ask for? When you stop to consider that these movies are based upon a video game it shows that there are no limits when you do it right. Speaking for myself, i wasn't disappointed in the least. Great Job, and of course, with a good price and great delivery!!!

Despite a promising setup, pic never really goes anywhere, instead immersing viewers in a kinetic onslaught of flesh (namely, that of Milla Jovovich) and flesh-eaters (most of the rest of the cast).
Hats off, however, to the production team for the set designs and one very imaginative death-by-laser sequence. The rest is a derivative, tedious mess. |

An occasional wide shot, of half-buried Las Vegas, say, hints at the postapocalyptic doom these movies have never quite achieved.
The action at times is pretty effective, from an attack by an infected flock of crows, to some brutal fighting in a sand-engulfed Las Vegas. |
