I ordered a Widescreen DVD thay sent me a Blu-ray disc. I can not use this item an Wal-Mart has not made it right by sending me the item i ordered. I have emailed them two times and called them one time , So I don't think I will be doing my shopping at Wal-Mart untill thay can fix this for me. I know I can take the item to the store but I ordered it by mail and don't think I should have to pay for the gas (the store is 40mil. one way from my house) or pay for the mail for a item I did not order!
Director Ernie Barbarash makes judicious use of CGI trickery -- in one key scene, he cleverly shocks his audience into laughing -- but at heart, he's an old-school traditionalist when it comes to scary stuff.
There are elements of a good fright flick and intriguing ghost story in They Wait. It's too bad that they are overshadowed by all the bad aspects " terrible dialogue and cheesy special effects and makeup.
No one has any goals other than to be the most annoying person in the room and there's plenty of competition in that department. It's a waste of a good setup as the situation and location are well drawn.
The attempt to extract the essences of several genres (cold-war submarine thriller, love story, Disney fantasy, pseudomystical SF in the Spielberg mode) and mix them together ultimately leads to giddy incoherence.
I purchased Abyss for a friend who wanted this movie to add to his collection. I have watched this movie at least a dozen times. The story line is great and the special affects are amazing. Love this movie!
