This valentine to the cultural diversity that defines L.A. is a second-tier Altman (or even Paul Thomas Anderson)a broad, accessible comedy that contrasts four large and dynamic families residing on the same street: Latino, black, Jewish, and Asian.
Besides its compelling storyline, Turk 182! features outstanding performances across the board, with Hutton perfect in the role of the determined unassuming hero.
A refreshing surprise to watch this series of DVD’s.
All stories based on true events with brilliant acting spread throughout this series, by actors like Jennifer Jason Leigh and Maury Chaykin. The not so well known actors do a convincing job to portray either victim/or perpetrator. For example, the story of Anne Sluti-“Taken In Broad Daylight”. What a harrowing ordeal Anne went through, yet she had the presence of mind to leave notes behind so those searching for her, would find. An amazing woman.
The cinematography and lighting are completed in each film with excellent results.
The content can be very graphic and disturbing, and yet it could be educational to teach teens about choices /consequences we all have.
Highly recommended.
Though there is a near vaccuum at the center of the film, Sommersby is never boring, largely because of Ms. Foster's beautifully self-possessed presence.
I had wanted to purchase the Nero Wolfe DVDs but the price was pretty high for me. The nearly half-price I got at Walmart.com was a true winner. Thanks for the good deal on a TV classic.
