She's All That feels like it could have been made by a team of septuagenarians from the glory days of American Intl. Pictures.
It's often impossible to distinguish what's meant to be cartoonish from what's meant to be dramatic, but the confusion seems appropriately adolescent. |

Scott Pilgrim vs. the World becomes a fatal case of flash over substance. Pretty great flash, though.
[It's] the funniest, most furiously action packed film of the year; one certain to be beloved by all the boys and girls who share the same passions and foibles as its foolish hero (myself included). |

A relentlessly corny and shamelessly derivative vehicle.
When Van Damme is doing what he does best -- narcissistically displaying his body and thumping the bad guys -- the film works reasonably well. |

Meryl dominates the proceedings. She simply disappears into the role, and the movie, for all its educational impulses, becomes about watching her do it.
Music of the Heart is nothing if not a change of pace, and, unfortunately, Craven doesn't appear entirely comfortable in these new surroundings. |

A great movie that shows what can be achieved by Teachers with dedication and faith in their students ability to learn. A remarkable true story of human achievement against all odds!

All but one, (Carolina \u2013 reminded me of Emma), of these films was more than convincing, believable, and worthwhile to view. Be prepared to learn from these films too, as they can help us cope with everyday situations, and encourage us to persevere in the face of overwhelming odds.\nSharon Stone was so moving, as an understanding and empathetic Mother trying her very best and believing in her son\u2019s ability, played enthusiastically by Kieran Culkin (The Mighty).\nAll the other films, Music of the Heart, The Battle of Shaker Heights, Wide Awake and Smoke Signals (:D) are excellent choices made by Miramax to compile the set.\nMore than Highly recommended and excellent value.

A family friendly movie that the whole family can enjoy. Kids loved it. The movie shows what happens when you can work together or against one another. There is romance; a magical Romeo and Juliet.

The nearest thing we've got to a big-screen Catcher in the Rye...with Kieran Culkin giving a very Holden Caufield-esque performance.

Martin, Keaton and cinematographer William A. Fraker put this retro fluff over better than expected early on, but hour 2 is only for those who don't want their equilibriums rattled by surprises. - USA Today, 2000-01-01 |

Altar Boys doesn't strive to revolutionise the genre, but by playing to what it knows the film works as an appealing teenage reminiscence.

Hallstrom's film could have used more dramatic muscle but is nonetheless a touching, old-fashioned charmer that ultimately satisfies.
Mr. Irving remains a disturbingly facile spinner of yarns in which the most sordid facts of life are glossed over into comfortably didactic homilies about the innate goodness of people. Yet, I was somehow moved... |

Unfortunately, I was unsuccessful in adjusting the sound track to hear the actor dialog without director comments at the same time. Wal-mart replaced the disc, however, the second disc experienced the same problem. Too bad because The Cider House Rules is a very good movie.
