Though the film is full of allusions to the Disney canon, they are generally unobtrusive echoes rather than eager satires. This is a children's movie at which adults are also welcome, not a cartoon for grownups.
True to it's tagline \"the most erotic adventure of all time\" this was a great star vehicle for Bo Derek. As Jane, she and her father venture deep into the jungle to find an elephant graveyard for it's ivory. About 2\/3 into the movie we finally see Tarzan. Beefcake Miles O' Keefe who never speaks but you do hear the infamous canned yodel. He has pet monkeys, a lion and an elephant that help him. He has to rescue the search party from some bad natives. The Burroughs estate sued which helped generate more buisness. It has shades of 'Fitzcaraldo' & 'Mountain of the Cannibal God' as in the hauling of a cannon thru the jungle and the body paint scene of Bo by the bad natives. The widescreen transfer looks great as well as the surround sound. And guys, this may be the only movie in history that you will want to see the end credits to the finish line.
