A gritty and gripping revenge fantasy %u2026 Kevin Bacon's talent and persona to make us sit up and take notice | |
Bacon, as usual, is very good even when he's slumming, and as a trashy B-movie redo of Death Wish the movie works well enough for a Saturday afternoon with a case of brewskies. |

DEATH SENTENCE is a tough movie to watch, not because it is a poorly made film, but because of the degree of violence that, once started, is mayhem on a roller coaster ride. There were so many moments in the movie, I was in tears because you can relate to the emotions Kevin Bacon feels. His son gets killed violently and while he mourns his remaining younger son feels alienated and unloved and his family begins to pay the price for his revenge. Towards the end of the movie when Kevin Bacon is exacting his revenge, one of the gang leaders says "Look at you," "You've turned into one of us." The man is right. The gang leaders have slit throats and shot heads. But so has Bacon. He is a lesser of two evils to be sure, but an evil none the less. It is true that Bacon has transformed into a kind of monster. I give great credit to Bacon's performance, along with almost ever other actor. If a dark, violent, disturbing movie but one I definitely recommend.

The three main stars are perfect together. Jay Mohr is funny and handsome and of coarse Kevin Bacon is a hunk and Jennifer Aniston is beautiful (still don't know why Brad left her for Angelina) but this is a great movie. I laughed so much. I would reccomend this as a great friday night family movie night.
