Like Frankenstein's monster before the lightning strikes, it's all recycled cold flesh and bolts, without a twitch of originality.
A low-voltage drive-in movie, made strictly by the book. |

Initially tolerable but increasingly stupid.
The movie's unintentionally played like a comedy all the way. |

Although, at times, the sluggish action of One Week seems to creep by in real time, the film is kept believable by honest, low-key performances and a script that sounds like the way real people talk.
Deserves to be given time for the word to get out on just how good it is. - Detroit Free Press, 2002-04-05 |

This is a very touching movie about HIV awareness and how playing games with your girlfriend\/wife could have dire consequences.\n\nVaron the protagonist was a cheater in his time but decides to put away his player ways in order to marry the woman of his dreams.\n\nOnly one week before his wedding date, Varon is informed that an unidentified past lover has contracted the AIDS virus. Without telling friends or family, Varon and his best friend(which he later finds out had the same thing happen to him) undergoes an HIV test -- but he must wait a week for the results.\n\nAs you would guess it's a week that spirals out of control.

Very lame ice-hockey flick.
The film is remarkably oblivious to the fact that if the team weren't hell-bent on a championship, young moviegoers would be significantly less interested in its adventures. |

My 9 year old hockey player asked for this movie, \"Mighty Ducks\",from Santa. When I went to order I saw you can get the 2nd movie as well for the same cost, what a deal. I love that it shipped to store and they had it ready for me in a few days, saved on shipping!

Frears has a lot of fun with the bad tempers and high spirits of this crew of adrenaline junkies, and though the story falls a little flat, the script is sprinkled with dry wit.
"Lay the Favorite" is a small and not particularly ambitious movie, but it's pleasing and exceptionally well made. |

What is so dreadful about unearned fame and undeserved riches that warrants this faux-Antonioni despair?
At last, Adam Goldberg has given us his 8 1/2. It's an ambitious rumination on fame, reality, love, loss and regret that falls so far short, he should have called it 2 1/8. - New York Post, 2005-12-02 |
