Not the best quality, represents the \"grit\" and grain of the TV era. My only gripe is there are no additional features, interviews, commentary, etc., and no closed captions. But it's a great show, great performances, great sets--Michael Mann at his best pre-Miami Vice. You can see where Mann got a lot of his Vice ideas, and many, many of his CS actors made it big later on, like Gary Sinise and David Caruso! And how about Andrew (\"Dice\") Clay?! Outstanding in a true acting role as Max Goldman. And Tony Denison at his most intense. If you were a fan of this \"lost\" series, you have to get this dvd!
Like the Thomas B. Costain book, the picture is overdrawn and sometimes tedious, but producer-director Victor Saville still manages to instill interest in what's going on, and even hits a feeling of excitement occasionally.
