I saw this film at my local theater and wasn't expecting much as I am not a football fan. Boy, was I pleasantly surprised. Not only did it turn out to be one of the most unexpected, inspirational and emotional films I'd seen in a long time, it actually also became one of my favorite films of ALL TIME. When it won at the Oscars I was so happy and not at all surprised. Also it's a film that I think will satisfy lovers of gritty, pull-no-punches true to life stories while at the same time being appropriate for the whole family. And my wife who hates everything loved it, so there's some high praise for you. I highly, highly recommend it.
A politically correct comedy about drag queens? This is the American response to the superior Aussie flick Adventures of Priscilla. Macho Wesley Snipes, Patrick Swayze, and John Leguizamo can't lift it above the routine.
Leguizamo's Chi Chi is the only one who looks anything like a drag queen, let alone a woman; yet we are asked to believe that it's Swayze's breathy Vida and Snipes' squealing Noxeema who've got their stocking seams straight.
The movie had action but the movie time length was too long. What movie in Hollywood history is five hours long? I did not know it was a 5 part crime movie. In addition, there was too many boring actionless sequences. Nevertheless, the story line was strong, acting was good, and the ending was alright.
