Story centers on an air patrol (helicoptor cop) officer in L.A. during the ramp up for possible olympic games there in mid 80s. An unscupulous & corrupt team of government agents has developed a hi-tech, armed, crowd control & anti-terrorist helicoptor codenamed Blue Thunder, and intends to test it out by stirring up trouble in the surrounding area, though the story really never gets that far. Frank Murphy, the air patrol cop and his partner are choosen to test pilot the helicopter in conjunction with local authorities. Trouble ensues and Murphy is forced to steal Blue Thunder and bring out the truth about the helicopters intended use.\nNow I have no complant about this film except that with the quality of blu-ray, it is really evident in the scenes where they have used a model helicopter. If you know what you're looking for the spots cannot be missed. I wish they had at least gone back and erased the extra small props sticking up above the main rotors on the model. Most of the scenes are actually using a real helicopter, but to me it's noticable and distracting. I still like the film though.
