The picture is great, a little lacking on "Manhunter" but not every classic film can be reproduced to Bluray perfection. "Silence of the Lambs" and "Hannibal" have incredible picture though. As for the films, all wonderful. "Manhunter" is the original to the remake of "Red Dragon" which I have found a lot of people do not know. "Red Dragon" is a better film in my opinion, mainly because of the actors in the film, not the story itself. All in all, the films are thrilling and impressive to anyone that has not seen them; and to anyone that has, you will love this Trilogy boxset.
This is a terrific value for the money, as is the DVD version. The associates were extremely helpful both times in helping me go thru the process, and the pick-up was a breeze. Far better than Best Buy.\nBasically, this is a re-make of the classic \"Death Race 2000\" starring David Carradine and Sly Stallone. They tell the story of Frankenstein, the top driver of the Death Races, and how he came to be. Far superior to the original.
Is the Bourne series the best triology ever? One can make the case that it is. Matt Damon exeplifies his role as Jason Bourne in the Bourne Ultimatum. I for one could not wait to buy this DVD even though I had seen the movie this summer. Wonderful bonus features and interviews. Great product to add to anyone's DVD collection.
**This is not a review on the actual movie** I ordered this movie online Valentines Day. Received notification it had arrived in the store on Feb 27th. Went to the store in the a.m. on the 28th to get package and it was the wrong movie. Walmart.com had sent me a workout video instead of Death Race 2. When asked why the mix up, walmart rep said it was out of stock. Funny...why didn't they send me an email when i ordered it or within the last two weeks saying it was out of stock??? Why send me an alternate movie??? Walmart rep also told me it would be four days before i got my money back. what???
The movie was worth the wait, but there was too long a wait at the ship-to-store register. Walmart cut back too deeply for my choice.\nThe story was a \"tear-jerker\" but showed how a dog and their Master never part.
The connection between the two narratives is supposed to be a big, heartbreaking surprise, though I figured it out well in advance and spent the interim unfavorably comparing this greatest-generation hanky wringer to the British drama Iris.
Neither the establishing dramatic linchpin nor the final conversion of conscience is terribly convincing, leaving this pared-down rendition of the original work diminished in power and meaning as well.
What it finally adds up to is a huge mixed bag of waxworks and daring, a film that is furiously ambitious even when it goes flat, and startling even when it settles for eerie, movie-of-the-week mimicry.
Quality enhancements --- just a tad but there was definitely more interest and thought behind the creation of subtitles, chapters and BD intros than most upgraded movies. Buy this again if you are an Oliver Stone fan like me. You won't be disappointed!
The film is too well-made and too well-paced to reek of cynicism...But rather than leaving you yearning for yet more Bourne, this exhausting fourth installment is more likely to have you citing one of the clearly stated themes in the film: "no more".
If you're expecting Matt Damon, forget it. However, Renner did a darn good job acting in this,...and well, I liked him in this. His friend, the girl doctor/lab person was good too. They could have gotten better actors for the other characters in this movie, they are the ones who let this movie down. Also, I don't think the movie was as well directed as the others, it just didn't seem to be put together right. A lot of people are going to be disappointed with this movie "solely" because they are expecting the performance of Damon, well Renner is a different kind of actor, but he is good in this, I've seen him in the Ben Aflack movie "The Town", and he was very good in that movie. All and all this is a good movie with a lot of action, you'll like it.
