Born in 1949, Jessica Lange first turned to modeling before she focused on the silver screen. The negative press she received for her first starring role in King Kong nearly convinced Lange to leave acting behind for good. Fortunately for fans, she returned to acting after several years. The actress has brought her charisma and powerful acting skills to a number of renowned films, including Frances, Tootsie, Cape Fear and The Postman Always Rings Twice. In 1995, Lange won an Academy Award for Best Actress for her role in Blue Sky. Look for iconic Jessica Lange movies at Walmart, including drama, comedy and crime films. Â

Like a less successful version of The Notebook, this works as an undemanding date movie; just don't expect much more from it.
It's not really cinematic in scale, but it is made with heart and emotionally it should please the target audience of young women - and romantic young men. |

Never has going fishing or getting caught been such a treat.
For the first time since Ed Wood, Burton has transcended his hermetically-sealed world and connected with wider concerns. |

At first this appears to be something that you wouldn't associate with Tim Burton, but as the story progresses, you quickly see all of the magic that you love. It's a terrific and touching story about a father's stories and his son's disbelief. Funny and Imaginative, you won't regret viewing.

Lange and Harris, dangerously well-matched, give us lovers whom only success could sunder.
The two main performances are excellent: Lange plays the singer without a hint of condescension to her dreams of 'a big house with yellow roses', while Harris is persuasively menacing, with an inventively foul mouth. |

It is not just the best comedy of the year; it is popular art on the way to becoming cultural artifact.
A sparkling turn by Hoffman and an absolutely fabulous cast make this a risk -- and a risque -- success. |

It's hard to believe that 25 years have passed since I first saw Tootsie! It is every bit as good as I remembered, and better. The 25th Anniversary Edition has a lot of extras, including Dustin Hoffman's \"screen test\", and the actors explaining many things, on and off screen, about the movie, in the Special Features section, and more.\n\nI loaned my original copy, in VHS (!) to someone and never got it back. The color and clarity and sound are even better in DVD. I loved seeing Tootsie again, and plan to watch it again several more times in the future. Dustin Hoffman has always been one of my most favorite actors and he is SO WONDERFUL in this, one of his best loved characters.\n\nIf you haven't seen it, what are you waiting for? Here is a terrifically funny and historically important movie to watch, and at a low price. If you have seen it, you already know you want to see it again. I strongly recommend buying Tootsie, then ENJOYING Mr. Hoffman's fine performance as often as you like.

This is the kind of movie where a madwoman's outburst leads her to throw a mug that just happens to be filled with gold sparkles -- which can then be photographed cascading down on all the adorable loonies, in slow-motion. |

Rob Roy has its diversions, but they are unfortunately outweighed by some heavy baggage that contains not enough of substance.
Neeson makes a less dashing action hero than did Day-Lewis, but he brings enough gravitas to his role to endow his love for his wife Mary (Lange) and his conflict with Cunningham with real emotional punch. |

Savagely witty on backstage life and audaciously edited.
Though Scheider is a wry, sensitive actor, he soon gets lost in the vulgar theatrics. |

First off I'm not dissing the movie that was just shown on HBO, I'm looking for to seeing it just because it's based on this film and this is by far one of the best documenteries of all time. I mean it has a cult following that should say enough. It's like Rocky Horror Picture Show-stlye. But this film is just wonderful following the two mother and daughter who live in total isolation. It's just interesting that people would live like that. They have everything but choose to have nothing to do with anyone. I recommend this and Salesman, it's done by the same director. Criterion is the best for release such great movies.

Many will relish Broken Flowers' refusal to serve up a resolution; others will find it frustrating. Inevitably, that's Jarmusch: like Murray's character journey, the rewards lie in the small moments that fade as much as the ones that linger.
