My daughter compared this to Takers, but I think it was much better. I have a thing for Jeremy Renner (he plays such a good bad boy). Now Ben Affleck can actually direct a major motion picture. And not only can he do it, he does it very well. Sure the movie had some minor flaws, but nothing that takes too much away from the overall big picture. The best way i can compare it is.....it's like an east coast "Heat". Now, the group is not as fool proof or professional as the gang in "Heat"......well, let's face it, you will probably never top that group in movie.....ever. But nevertheless, the style of film making really pulls you into each sequence, whether it be the action packed bank robbery, the emotional dialog between characters, or the intense decisions the players all must endure.
The film follows Affleck's character, Doug , as he faces a turning point in his life. He leads a gang of masked armed robbers but wants to quit a life of crime and change for good. His dream of a better future is spurred on by a coincidental romance with Claire (Hall), who was an unharmed victim (and a key witness) of one of his heist schemes. To complicate things, Claire does not know that Doug was involved in that heist. Worse, his partner-in-crime, James (Renner), a volatile, Joe Pesci-like madman, discovers their relationship and threatens to kill her.
A perfect combo of solid story, captivating screenplay, amazing writing, brilliant character development, good emotional content and brilliant cinematography. All together delivers an entertaining action thriller...DEFINITELY worth a watch folks!
Beware this DVD is in 1.33:1 (not widescreen) and the resolution is terrible. It breaks my heart because I love this movie and who has a 4:3 TV anymore?! Hopefully WalMart will take this back and make it right.
Normally I don't care for Tom Cruise, perhaps because I'm not female and I just don't think his\nacting is as great or as believable as other actors. This was one of the few in this series that\nI watched and actually liked it. It played off all the characters in the movie so it wasn't just\none sided towards Cruise's character. Overall a good film.
The film is too well-made and too well-paced to reek of cynicism...But rather than leaving you yearning for yet more Bourne, this exhausting fourth installment is more likely to have you citing one of the clearly stated themes in the film: "no more".
If you're expecting Matt Damon, forget it. However, Renner did a darn good job acting in this,...and well, I liked him in this. His friend, the girl doctor/lab person was good too. They could have gotten better actors for the other characters in this movie, they are the ones who let this movie down. Also, I don't think the movie was as well directed as the others, it just didn't seem to be put together right. A lot of people are going to be disappointed with this movie "solely" because they are expecting the performance of Damon, well Renner is a different kind of actor, but he is good in this, I've seen him in the Ben Aflack movie "The Town", and he was very good in that movie. All and all this is a good movie with a lot of action, you'll like it.
I reviewed this movie and I found it to be an excellent movie fully packed with adventures and astounding action from the beginning to the end. This movie had me wanting some more I could not get enough of it so I had to be satisfied with what I got so with no more to say this movie is rated past 100 percent and I and the family loved it because we watched it together with hot popcorn and cold sodas. Keep up the good work and bring more movies I'll be checking you out for more thrills and chills movies. Yours truly, Zaida Quijano, the mother of the Immortal One.
not enough people working back in the layaway, pick up dept, one person cannot handle lines of 10 people by themselves, I gave up the first time I went to pick up this item, because there was one person handling a problem and I waited 15 min. and the same person was at counter, when I went back 2 days later, the person at counter didnot have keys to open the case to get dvd out, so I had to wait 20 min. for keys to be brought back to person at counter. More organization required in that dept and more people at this time of year.
Exclusive comic, blu ray AND dvd disc's for all occasions! Just like the other reviews said this blu ray copy fills the entire screen and doesn't have top\/bottom black bars (widescreen) like it advertises. Looks perfect!
