The first movie, Crank, wasn't going to win any oscars by a long shot but it was a way to kill off a couple of hours. I had never seen more than a few minutes of Crank 2: High Voltage on cable t.v. and then it was heavily edited. Like I stated, Crank wasn't going to win any oscars but Crank 2 completely fell to the basement of garbage films before finding its way into the sewer where it belongs. It comes across more like a freshmen college film project where the director only watched adult films and MTV for inspiration. The film contains more than a fair share of nudity and the writers seemed to have a juvenile fascinated with curse words, especially the one that begins with \"F\". The characters are pathetic to say the least and there was nothing in this film that gives it any redeeming qualities on any level. I am a fan of Jason Statham, the Transporter and The Expendable franchises are two of my favorite series of films but not even Statham on his best day could have saved this pile. I can't help but wonder if maybe Jason didn't lose a bet as to the reason he agreed to return as Chev.
This is one of my favorite movies. It is a story created about a single man and his struggles with ego and self identity. To have such a inner struggle played out like a movie is extremely moving and thought provoking. I did have to watch the movie a couple of times before I could identify to true meaning of each character and how they tie into the story the movie represents. The strange thing is the more of the movie you understand, the better you understand yourself and how your particular mindset came to be. This movie is a must have!!
