It will appeal to slasher fans (though it's by no means a standout example of the genre) and those with a black sense of humour who will no doubt think the in-bred, mean, cheating folks in this town are getting the devil they deserve.
I bought this movie because of the valentine's day holiday coming up. It's scary and keeps the viewer on the edge of his\/her seat. But why in almost every slasher movie the killer survives after a standoff with its victims? The victim survives too but the killer should've died.
Director Ernie Barbarash makes judicious use of CGI trickery -- in one key scene, he cleverly shocks his audience into laughing -- but at heart, he's an old-school traditionalist when it comes to scary stuff.
There are elements of a good fright flick and intriguing ghost story in They Wait. It's too bad that they are overshadowed by all the bad aspects " terrible dialogue and cheesy special effects and makeup.
