I bought it to use on my iMac in order to do Screen Recordings. Older iMacs have audio input and output ports and this device was not needed since one simply jumps these two ports when doing a screen recording (video) and the audio is clear. With the newest iMac there is only one audio output port so I bought this unit to connect to a USB port and use it as the audio input port for screen recordings. I tried various combinations of setups with this device and it either gave me terrible static or a background ticking noise in each case. It works fine for audio recording only but not with screen (video) recording on the new iMac. In short it works for audio only applications but not for the audio from a video source.
