Zwart pulls out enough stops in action sequences involving jet-propelled skateboards, stunt drives and mountain rescues to keep the ball rolling nicely.
From a bevy of cheesy jolt scares (alarm clock! barking dog!) to the embarrassing sight of Zellweger and Ian McShane treating this Orphan-style B-movie silliness with grave seriousness, the film proves to be one hokey-horror riot.
Case 39 isn't full of suspense or terror, but for those who cannot stand too much excitement, this movie is for you. There are times I don't want to watch something too scary, so this movie was just right. I think the acting was great. Renee always does a great job.
Parents of impressionable littlies should be mindful that the film does descend into a very effective nightmare world in the final reel and some time could be spent shielding eyes from Selick's more confronting creations.
I thought I seen most of the episodes but now without interuptions I can start the programs at the beginning, pause if need be, watch in order, see missed sections and entire episodes. The color and sound is brilliant.
**This is not a review on the actual movie** I ordered this movie online Valentines Day. Received notification it had arrived in the store on Feb 27th. Went to the store in the a.m. on the 28th to get package and it was the wrong movie. Walmart.com had sent me a workout video instead of Death Race 2. When asked why the mix up, walmart rep said it was out of stock. Funny...why didn't they send me an email when i ordered it or within the last two weeks saying it was out of stock??? Why send me an alternate movie??? Walmart rep also told me it would be four days before i got my money back. what???
