Rather hollow effort. | |
If director Gus Van Sant had always been a hack it wouldn't matter so much, but personally I find this form of licking the audience's cheeks like an obsequious puppy deeply offensive. |

Case was scratched with what looks like a box knife, irritating because I like my purchases in great condition, something I do with my entire DVD collection. But not worth getting disgruntled about. Another order I picked up the same day and a blade was taken to the top instead in the face of the DVD, it was scratched but on the top and not as noticeable(that one was Fullmetal Alchemist: Conqueror of Shamballa), but irritating. They need to be more careful when unpacking orders. I doubt whomever reads this really cares about my purchase, and the obvious neglect shown to my items in the warehouse,. MacGruber was broken off the hinges(another movie I ordered through you guys). I love Site-to-Store, but this needs to get better.

At the moment, it's my favorite movie of the year.
Sean Penn gives a meticulously detailed performance as the cagey and charismatic pol, but credit should also go to Dustin Lance Black, whose script squarely locates Milk at the center of his community, his city, and his cause. |

I have lived on the east coast my whole life and never knew the significance of Harvey Milk. What a wonderful story of a man who changed the city of San Franscisco, but the ripple effect has impacted all Americans directly and indirectly. I would recommend this movie for anyone over the age of 16. The acting was beyond amazing, especially considering Sean Penn and Scott Franco are straight....they did a great job with their gay roles and were very believable in their love for each other. This movie is an important piece of our history and I really enjoyed it.

Wandering in a narcoleptic stupor, Pitt's junkie rock star is as much lost soul as tortured genius, and Van Sant refrains from tacky pop theorising or tired rock-crit veneration.
Van Sant's refusal to delve into his subject in anything but an abstract way renders the movie pointless and frustrating -- a lyrical, lovely tone poem, signifying little. |

The two stars...[Casey Affleck and Matt Damon]...both playing characters named Gerry, wander across the desert for some reason, and if you enjoy watching them on any pretext, you'll probably enjoy this; if you don't, you won't.
Mesmerising, daring and defiantly leftfield. |

A frazzled, dangerous and dark comedy-drama.
One of those cult classics well worth investigating even if you have never so much as smoked a cigarette in your life. |

There are just too many half-cooked ingredients in this utopian stew of a movie. |
