I had a preference for the original “The Goodbye Girl” with Richard Dreyfuss and Marsha Mason (1977) which this is NOT. Yet the Patricia Heaton/Jeff Daniels combo did reasonable justice to Neil Simon’s brilliant play.
The ONE really worth watching in this set of four (forget the other two films), is the Billy Crystal / Debra Winger “Forget Paris”. The structure of the story left you wondering….what had happened… till the conclusion of the film. Well crafted.
I had seen this movie when it was originally released. With the DVD, I saw more in the movie than my first viewing. The Walmart online process was very convenient and priced competitively. The review process is cumbersome
Not Walmart's fault. This DVD is a very POOR reproduction. Does not even look like a regular DVD let alone a Blu-ray. Picture is VERY grainy and unclear. MGM just seemed to copy it to a Blu-ray and marketed it as such. Our VHS copy of this movie is MUCH clearer than this Blu-ray dvd. Do not purchase it. Once again, this is not Walmart's fault. All Walmart did was deliver this to me.
This is the directorial debut of Bob Dolman, who got his start scripting WKRP in Cincinnati, and as one might expect, he handles the comic material with aplomb and falls on his face whenever the story turns serious.
