I've read the other reviews where the wire breaks right away. I've had my slicer for two years and the wire is just fine. I've bought more and sent them to family and friends. It's got a good grip handle. Unless one is using this like a tool out in your work bench in the garage, this cheese slicer can take it. Whether you want thick or thin slices depends on the angle of your hand\/wrist and it says that on the directions. It can do nearly paper thin slices or thick slices. What kind of cheese you slice (hardened cheddar block cheese for example, or Velveeta cheese consistency) makes a difference how you \"pull\" the cheese wire through the cheese. I have noticed with Velveeta consistency cheese it can roll up over the roller bar with thin slices, so I reduced my recommendation a notch for that but only for cheeses with that milky, soft consistency. It doesn't roll with harder firm cheeses at all. But you can't just yank it through harder cheeses without putting a strain on the wire as it would with any wire slicer you pull through. You \"walk it\" through harder cheeses, pulling it with a slight lean to the left then to the right pulling the wire through as you go. With something the consistency of Velveeta cheese, you can pull it through the slice like butter, but should be thicker slices to stop the roll. There is a finesse with using this cheese slicer and you have to just learn how. Hard, quick pulling action through harder cheeses probably will break your wire. Like I say, I've had mine 2+ yrs, closer to 3 yrs now, with average use of 1x a week, and it works just fine. I'd recommend it to anyone who will take time to learn how to use it properly!
the grater packaging says \"come apart for easy cleaning\" but there's not even a hint as to how it would \"come apart\". The handle is what bothered me when i was trying to grate a chunk of cheddar, its soft plastic that twists and you have to keep a hard grip on it specially if your hands are greasy. I will now go back and try to disassemble that stinky grater so I can wash all that rotting cheese off. Thanks Farberware for nothing.

I needed to replace my cake\/pie server spatula for sometime because my old one, after over 30 years of ownership had rusted. I looked in so many stores but never found a singular, plain yet elegant enough as a serving tool, functional but also very practical like dishwasher safe like this one. Farberware is a good brand and I have used their products before so I know it will deliver on its promise of durability.

What our shoppers say:
Would not recommend
Poaching cups are made of plastic and small. Even though you can purchase new ones through Farberware, they do not hold up. You can not use extra large eggs without them spilling over because the cups are small. I personally would not recommend this poacher.
Bought this set for stove top cooking with my non-stick pots. They do not scratch the bottoms due to the covering. I have not had any issues with the coating peeling off like other reviews, and I run mine through the dishwasher. Very pleased with the quality for the price.
