I watched the first five minutes of the first chapter and heard about 20 curse words including God's name in swearing several times. I went to the second chapter, more foul language, homosexual acts on screen ( not just audio). I had enough and pulled it back out of the player put it back in the box and into the trash where it belonged.
The leads do physically resemble their real-life prototypes, judging from last year's coffee-table book on Carrington's art and personal circle. But the snail's pacing, vague writing and Thompson herself leave a fatal void.
As the twists come thick and fast and the plot gets progressively more and more baroque, Branagh shows himself to be at least as intelligent as Brian De Palma in delivering over-the-top stylistic filigree.
