I was lended this movie by a family member who loves Cary Grant. She owns it on VHS so I decided to purchase the DVD version for her as a Christmas gift. I hope she enjoys it just as much as I did when I watched. What a beautiful and sad story. I don'y know why they no longer make movies like these.
I have to say that Clift's plot is far less compelling than Lancaster's and something of the zip goes when Frank Sinatra disappears from the action, sent to the stockade. But what a punch this movie still packs.
