Breaking Bad is one of those shows that only comes around once about every 5 to 10 years. It goes against the grain of what mainstream popular TV is all about without being an advocate for destructive lifestyles and deviant behavior (unlike most "reality" TV). Instead, Breaking Bad explores the story of Walter White (a.k.a "Heisenberg"), who has the unfortunate revelation that he has inoperable lung cancer. The prognosis is bleak and the small-college chemistry teacher realizes he has nothing to leave his family upon his death-his son has cerebral palsy to boot. To paraphrase the story-Walter decides that as a master chemist who has unfortunately never taken advantage of his exceptional skill in the lab to make huge profits, he could make the purest and strongest methamphetamine in the world, corner the market and make millions to help his family once he has passed on. If only he can keep it a secret. You see, his brother-in-law is a DEA agent. He meets a former student, Jesse, who is a meth-slinger himself, albeit for some scurvy gang-banger types that sell garbage...not the kind of stuff that Mr. White can produce. All sorts of mayhem follows Walter & his partner, Jesse, throughout the first 3 seasons. Several near-death experiences, suspenseful moments between Mr. White and his DEA brother-in-law, emotional confrontations between Walter & his family, and the dark, unforgiving world of drug manufacturing and dealing. Although entertaining as a TV show, Breaking Bad pulls no punches as an expose (albeit through the lens of a movie camera and the delivery of hollywood actors) on how depraved this kind of environment is. Admittedly, the circumstances in which Walter & his partner find themselves in is at times humorous and thrilling, but I think the producers have done a fine job of keeping it real and making the viewer think "Nope...not worth it!". At least, that's how I see it. A well-rounded show, smart & slick, but not for small children (under 15 or 16) by any means-and there are moments where the squeamish will not be comfortable with. That said, I highly recommend this AMC hit.

Whether he would have won at the next Olympics, we'll never know. What we do know is that Towne, a man of ruefully romantic temperament, has found a soulmate in Steve Prefontaine. | |
With a very good part for a change, Sutherland invests the imposing Bowerman with a host of subtly expressed attitudes toward his most illustrious charge. |

Get The Gringo was filmed mostly indoors in a fictional Mexico prison where the inmates were in charge. The script produced funny dialog for Mel Gibson and lots of action. However, the blu-ray picture quality was lacking. This could have been the result of indoor filming with low light.\n\nBlu-ray achieves best result in outdoor scenes. For example, western movies with majestic landscapes. Overall, the movie was fun to watch. Had the picture quality been better, I would have given it 4 stars. My husband and I loved the movie.
We thought the movie was great and watched it 3 times the first night we received it. We had problems with Amazon.com in getting the DVD (charged money, but no delivery of goods). After Amazon contacted me and stated I could no longer do business with them because I demanded a refund of monies when they failed to deliver the product, I found it on Walmart.com. We got the movie several days later and were amazed with Walmart's speed. The movie was as good as we had expected it to be - we love Mel Gibson! I just wish the movie had been shown in theaters because so many people won't get to see such a great film.

This is undoubtedly one of the great series of all time. The directing, producing, writing, and acting are all great. I've recommended it to dozens of people and those who have watched it all enjoyed it (pastors, teachers, farmers, college students).

There is a inside Breaking Bad for all most all episodes in Season 2. Great insight into the actors. The 3 discs helps to break up watching the entire series in one sitting.
