Grounded in a superb screenplay, the film is entirely in the hand of Philip Seymour Hoffman as Capote, a remarkable performance that dares to dangle over the precipice of overstatement to capture a character who defies fiction.
This movie was recommended by a family member and they were right! It tells the story of a Little League team that overcomes great odds to make it to the Little League World Series. Based on a true story and performed by exceptional actors, it is a touching story that proves inspiring. Glad I made the purchase.
This take on Vietnam War doesn't break new thematic ground but it's Schumacher's best film since the 1993 Falling Down, and it showcases the talents of newcomer Colin Farrell, who has everything that it takes to become a major Hollywood star
I saw this film at my local theater and wasn't expecting much as I am not a football fan. Boy, was I pleasantly surprised. Not only did it turn out to be one of the most unexpected, inspirational and emotional films I'd seen in a long time, it actually also became one of my favorite films of ALL TIME. When it won at the Oscars I was so happy and not at all surprised. Also it's a film that I think will satisfy lovers of gritty, pull-no-punches true to life stories while at the same time being appropriate for the whole family. And my wife who hates everything loved it, so there's some high praise for you. I highly, highly recommend it.
