Just got the thread I ordered and cant wait to use my new serger. I must admit I am nervous after reading the horror stories of threading a serger, but this one promises to be easier and there are \"how to\" videos on you tube. I already had to call Brother because the instruction book does not make it clear that the \"knife lever\" doesn't actually move the knife up or down, it locks it down when the needles are in motion. I thought mine was broken because I flipped the lever, and nothing happened. The nice Brother tech had me move the needles after I locked the knife down and then I understood that it wasn't a raise\/lower lever, but a lock in place lever. I felt stupid, but hey, I'll never meet the guy, so if he is shaking his head over my dumb question, oh well. The only other concern I have is that these sergers \"walk\" when you use them. Apparently they vibrate so much that users have to put carpet, non slip rubber mats, and that non slip shelf liner stuff to keep the machine in one place while you sew. I got my piece of carpet and shelf liner all set to go. Today is day one of my new adventure in serging. Wish me luck.
I have been using my machine for hours at a time day after day. It's a great work horse and value for the money. It's easy and quick to set up. I bought the Brother PED Basic to transfer designs from computer to card, I haven't tried using the USB port on this machine. I also love that you can save designs on this machine. Other great features are that it alerts you when bobbin thread and spool threads are running out.

What our shoppers say:
Great Sewing Machine
After watching the DVD this sewing machine wasn't so difficult to use. It comes with the necessary manual as well.\nIt is my first sewing machine ever and I had an easy way learning my way around it.\nI am very happy with my purchase.
I am an experienced sewer (about 55 years) and I picked this up late one evening when I was sewing on my $1500 sewing machine that all of a sudden stopped working and I had a project to finish the following day. That was over 4 years ago and I use this one more than the other five that I own. It is just a great little sewing machine that does most everything I need it to do. At this point, I am starting to have a few problems with it so I am going to replace it with another one just like it. In all honesty, I have used this almost every day since I first purchased it and it has a lot of \"miles\" on it so I am not the least bit upset about replacing it since I feel that I have really gotten my moneys worth out of it. The repairs on my $1500 machine were more than double what I paid for this one and if the second one performs as well as this one, I'll go back for a third one. For the price, you just can't do better - I had never used any Brother product prior to this but I'm sure glad I gave it a try.
