You'll need an awful lot of Christmas cheer to forgive Arnold Schwarzenegger for his fourth, and hopefully last, venture into comedy, a turkey that needs stuffing on the most inaccessible shelf of your local video store.
Kids will 'ooh' and 'aah' over the shaggy, doe-eyed doggy as it demolishes the family home, but grown-ups should stay on the sofa and enjoy the acerbic asides which distinguish this offering from the glut of cute mongrel movies.
It's not the original so don't expect it to be....
It's a good movie on it's own terms, but it's not the original. If you don't expect it to be a clone of the first one then you will probably like it. I enjoyed it a lot and it does follow the same type of formula that the original established. Don't forget the original follow up \"It Runs In The Family\" as well. When you have an iconic film such as the original, it's hard to get past the characters being played by new actors...so...if you can't get past that, you won't like it. If you enjoy the type of story that the original was and don't expect it to be \"exactly\" like the first one, then you will like it. I like it, my kids loved it. I thought it was nice to see the old characters revived for a new movie.
Obviously a sequel to a legendary movie like A Christmas Story isn't going to be quite as amazing as the original, but this is a very cute and funny movie. If you love the original, you'll find that this movie is a satisfying sequel.
