bought this rod because I'd seen good reviews. First day end broke off. Repaired with new eyelet, about 5-6 trips later, rod snapped in two a foot back, while reeling in a fish. It was just brittle, I have fished for years and only had one other break this way, but it caught in tailgate. This one just couldnt handle a fish. Luckily, I kept the old rod it replaced. Never buy a Berkley product again (anything from Jarden).
I have owned several Cherrywood rods threw the years and have never had a bad experience with one. Great price for such a great rod. I fish tournaments and use this rod. It has a good feel, light in weight and has a good back bone for hook set. If you want an excellent rod for a good price you will not regret the Berkley Cherrywood line up!
I purchased this rod several (8) weeks ago and have come to really enjoy it. It is used for trout fishing mainly but I have also fished for bass and bluegill with it. It is very light weight, VERY sensitive, and it's castability is great. Anyone who trout fishes knows the importance of accurately placing a spinner as close to a brush\/rock pile as they can. With this rod I have clearly (at least in my mind) gotten better. I highly recommend the 6' medium light model. It's paired to an Abu garcia cardnial sx10 with 6lb line. One note to keep in mind, the reel seats on this rod are smaller than most, so take your reel with you to make sure it fits before you buy it.
I bought this rod to put one of my Lew's Speed Spool on. The rod is very light compared to some of my other 7 foot rods. The action feels really good and has great casting action with my reel.\n\nI would buy another!
