This line is perfect for older anglers like myself whose eyesight is not as keen as it once was. I prefer fluorocarbon line because it is impervious to damage from sunlight, is thinner yet stronger than monofilament, and is more sensitive. Unfortunately, fluorocarbon is also difficult to see. I need a line that I can see when fishing plastic worms, as bass often take a worm with the only indication they have it being the movement of the line. To my knowledge, Stren 100 Percent Flouro is the only fluorocarbon line that has a glow so it is easy to see while fishing it. The only drawback to this line is it is a little thicker in diameter than regular fluorocarbon - its 12 pound test line is the thickness of other fluorocarbon's 14 pound test. Therefore I fish with the 12 pound test for most of my worm fishing, which is strong enough because this line is incredibly tough. The only gripe I have is that Wal-Mart does not offer this line in 15 pound test, even though Stren makes that size line. Still, that is a minor complaint because I cannot find this line at any other outlet. Bass Pro Shop discontinued the line in the store I shop at, and it is no longer available for ordering. Thank goodness Wal-Mart has it on their website, as it is not sold at my local Wal-Mart store.
Light-activated to glow continuously for nighttime bite detection
What our shoppers say:
When I first learned of this product, I actually searched the Internet for it. There are only two places to buy it. One is bass pro and it will NOT come with a reel. The other is Walmart online and you get the rod and reel for a deal. I baught this rod for catfishing at night . Not only do you get the benefit of it glowing, all gimmicks aside its actually a solid rod. I'd buy this again if I had to replace it.
Great little tool, must have for any bass fisherman. Works exactly how its supposed to. Only gave 4 stars though because mine was slightly bent when I got it, which will likely cause it to bend more with regular use. Great product.
Vanish Fluorocarbon leader is great product; much better than suffix or Andes. This leader has great knotting whereas suffix comes apart after every cast. I caught 40+ spanish mackerel on 30lb test leader before the line became frayed. The only problem is that Walmart is always out due to their automatic ordering system and the dept manager's failure to increase shelf quantity. For the money, this is great line.
So I bought this because I wanted to try a fluorocarbon line that was cheap. I have the 10lb spooled on a baitcaster. It performs well, at first line memory was a problem but it seems the more i used it the less memory it has so thats a plus. But, I dont like the knot strength, I have had some breaks just from tying a polymer knot. But overall line strength seems ok, and the line is not as smooth as others.
This is my first go round with fluorocarbon fishing line. I first noticed while spooling it just how springy it was acting. It didn't want to sit tight and took a bit more effort to spool than my standard monofilament line. It's definitely not as flexible. While fishing, there are a few noticed differences from mono filament. First, is that this stuff is clear under water. I can usually follow my monofilament line in the water pretty well, but this stuff disappears! I'm thinking that's a good thing, as a line could spook fish. The next thing I've noticed is that, while this stuff definitely isn't as flexible as monofilament, it seems a lot stronger. Finally, I want to mention the sensitivity of the line. I think it's because of everything else mentioned earlier, but when a fish hits your lure there is a definite 'twang' in the line. It makes it really easy to discern an honest hit.\n\nDownside would have to be the price.
