My only experience with an all-in-one before I got this Acer was using an iMac at work (so I had high expectations even though an iMac would have probably cost twice as much).\n\nFirst, I didn't want a Windows 8 machine. In comparing the limited options that still had Windows 7 available to those with 8, it seems the Windows 7 machines cost at least $100 extra (in my opinion, windows 8 works best on machines with touchscreens which this unit does not have; also it seems to be designed to emphasize the social media stuff rather than productivity).\n\nThis unit meets my productivity needs. I bought a copy of Office 2010 and installed it without any problems. I also like that the windows 7 pro install included a way to run programs in windows XP mode that don't work on 7. The machine runs the Office productivity software well.\n\nThe speakers leave a lot to be desired. I had to purchase external speakers to bring this up to the quality I had with the iMac (about $40 to $50 from Wal-Mart for 25 watt set of Logitech speakers). So if you are going to be playing music or watching YouTube videos you should be prepared to invest in a speaker set.\n\nThe screen looks really nice. Occasionally the screen will go all black for a couple seconds and come back on. But this hasn't happened enough for it to be a major issue yet.\n\nThis unit has an Intel Core i3 chip which is much more desirable than the units with non-Intel chips.\n\nIf you buy this unit you should also get the Wal-Mart warranty. It is only $69 and extends the original warranty to 3 years and also covers more than the Acer warranty covers. If you get it you also get a 1-year subscription to McAfee which includes the antivirus and firewall. The McAfee program slows down the browsing because it prescreens the websites you go to and blocks out any dangerous content (so it is worth the reduction in speed in my opinion).\n\nOverall, I believe for the price you are getting your money's worth. It allows you to use the productivity software you require with Windows 7 pro and is also a good machine to surf the web. I've had the machine for a little over two weeks and use it every day. I also liked that the machine was shipped directly to my local Wal-Mart so I didn't have to be waiting around for the delivery and could pick it up when it was convenient. Be sure to get some DVDs when you pick up the machine because you don't get the original Windows 7 Pro discs and must burn recovery discs when you are setting the machine up.
This All In One met or exceeding my needs. My 80+ year old father needed a new PC or laptop. I really wanted to find something with a decent size screen and decent processing power. Most critical was the need for WIndows 7 instead of windows 8 which would have been way too confusing\/frustrating for him to learn. This unit is PERFECT. He I loving it right out of the box.
