The writers have created cardboard cutouts instead of flesh-and-blood characters.
It's a bit of a throwback and a solid family film and, at the time, represented a well-intentioned leap of faith of the sort that studios rarely take.

Awesome movie!
My teen daughters love this movie, and buying it from WalMart.com was really easy - I just picked it up at the store. I tried a couple of other stores, but they wanted more money and shipping, so this was a pretty good deal.

The movie, directed without a personal stamp of any kind by Chris Columbus, is so slick that the grime comes from a spray can and the grungy bohemian costumes look rented from a Betsey Johnson boutique sale.

It's real -- and, on screen, it's really cringe-worthy. Not quite Phantom of the Opera cringe-worthy, but not as much fun to blow raspberries at, either.

What our shoppers say:
Fantastic Movie!!!
I have been unable to see Rent performed on stage, despite my extreme interest in the show. So I was thrilled when it became available in movie form. It is beautifully portrayed and very well done, exceeding my highest expectations. The new members of the cast integrated very nicely with the returning members, which eased my trepidations about the project tremendously. I highly recommend this movie!!!
awesome movie
I have always loved this movie and walmart.com made it easy for me to actually own it. :)
