What our shoppers say:
Leaks like a sieve after 1 season
Tent seams leak at the bottom as well as the top which far outweighs the ease of setup. I contacted Coleman when this began to leak. They told me it had a 1 year warranty and mine was out of warranty. (mine was 13 months) The sent me a small amount of seam sealer and tape and when I called back to tell the ALL the seams leaked they agreed to send me more sealer. Stay away from this tent at any cost.
We love this tent! This is a great tent for older people (50+). The light is great. The swinging door makes is very easy to get in and out of. I love the roll down windows. It took a little time to set it up the first time, but the instructions were good. We expect it to take about 20 minutes from now on. I love the screen ceiling...we got to see the beautiful stars!!!! Be careful with the poles that are used for the door. The little rubber ends can get stuck in the hole. We had a great time and got compliments from the other campers!
Great for families, scout troops and extended camping excursions, the Coleman Montana 8 Tent offers the ultimate family camping experience. The hinged door makes it easy to go in and out, while the Coleman exclusive self-rolling windows let you easily adjust the window opening to your liking. Setting up the Montana 8 is a breeze, thanks to shock-corded poles, continuous pole sleeves, pin-and-ring design and InstaClip attachments. A durable carry bag is included, with separate storage sacks for tent, poles and stakes. This is a good tent and is worth the money. I personally purchased this tent to replace an exact similar tent (so I was thinking) as a part that broke could not be replaced. This part broke because of improper setup and was entirely my fault :( - yes I broke it....\n\nAnyway, be aware that Coleman had 2 sizes - a 12x8 and a 12x9 and they are both marketed as \"8 person instant tent\". I originally had a 12x9. I bought a 12x8 (I did not know) instead and was disappointed strictly from the standpoint that two queen beds no longer fit side by side towards the rear of the tent. This is a completely personal preference.\n\nMy solution: I used the new tent part to fix the old tent. So I am back in business. Please be aware of this \"size\" change. I believe the older 8 person tents used to be 12x9 and now they are 12x8. Minor inconvenience? For me it was.
This is definitely an Instant Tent. We set it up at midnight when we got to the site but make sure you get 2 if you have more 2 people sleeping in it. There were 2 adults and 1 medium size dog and only reason we had enough room is we slept on cots and there was storage under the cots. You can fit 6 people if they are about 3-4' tall but no way 3 or more adults will fit in the tent unless you like being \"VERY VERY\" cozy. My experience with 6 person tents was anticipated already as in this case.
This is a great tent. Helps to have two people set it up. Really liked the automatic windows, made it easy to open and close. More of a \"summer\" tent, we camped out in the mountains and I believe it went into the 40's and since there are \"vents\" at the top that you cannot close it became very cold.
This tent was great. My wife and me went camping for a month in this tent, we did spray it twice ahead of time before we went, but I always spray my tents and tarps. We went camping first for a week in the Grand Canyon, then a week in Yellowstone, then a week in Glacier National Park, and a last week in Mt Rushmore. We had rain and strong winds at different times on the road trip and the tent held up great. There was a lot of room for the two of us and it did not leak at all. I did have a tarp to go over it but we did not use it at all. We are going to use it again next summer for another month long road trip. It will be home again with the bears in Wyoming, Montana, and North Carolina this time.
This tent is great realy big I'm over 6 foot and stand just fine. My concern was the windows for some reason I got the idea that the windows didn't close but the side two do, the back is wide open but closes with the rain cover, I'm fine with that. I have not used it yet to camp but took to park to see it in action and I'm impressed, can't wait to go camping and put this baby to use. The screened in area is nice it has zippers on bottom and middle if you want it open but why would you.
- Coleman products have a good track record. This tent seems to be well-made and durable (after one use) - it was windy and the tent(s) held up (bought three). Love the door - uses a flexible rod to support the door edges for easy opening and closing - like a real door. Makes it easier to zip - don't get the fabric caught in the zipper. The tent(s) is spacious and simple to assemble.
This tent got a workout the very first night when we had some of the most violent thunderstorms and lightning I've seen in my 61 years!. Everybody in camp ended up in MY tent because the ground became a river and the bathtub floor kept us high and dry. It was also so nice to be able to stand up inside!\n\nThe rain fly ROCKS and the front porch is wonderful to be able to sit under to keep dry or to take off shoes.\n\nThe tent was EASY to put up. I will be able to do this alone with no problem. Two people are better, of course, but I can do it by myself if I have to.\n\nI had a Coleman Dome for 10 years that I loved. I almost cried when it died. This one is just as good and only cost $20 more than my original.\n\nI'm in love with Coleman and I'm really happy with this tent!
I bought this tent for my husband last year and we finally got to use it! Set up was easy as I am 27 weeks pregnant and set the tent up in the garage to seal the seams by myself. This tent HAS to be staked from the two ends to stay up. As we are usually taking my 86 year old grandma with us, we like to set the tent on the parking spot so its level for her to sleep. That is really the only thing I was disappointed with. We had a queen on a frame, a full and twin mattress on the floor and plenty of room for our bags and 2 tower fans. It rained the whole weekend off and on and the only leak we had was from my pillow being right on the tent the first night, as we weren't so organized after setting up camp. This was a great purchase, and we are very happy with it!
