Do not buy this product. It's very slow to open the files.I wasn't ever going to buy another 1.I have about 10 external hard drives and I've never had a problem before.Today I got a message saying it needed to reformat. It did and I lost about 2 TB's of data.I am still highly upset.I took it to a nearby walmart and suggested it be taken off the shelf.I told the walmart employee what had happened.A woman that I wasn't even talking to told me I'd have to take that up with the manufacturer.I didn't buy it from the manufacturer.I purchased it from walmart. From now on,the largest size external hard drive I'll buy is a 1 TB.I got 2 today.I REPEAT.DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!!!
I like this hard drive because it is small, cheap but good quality (LaCie = good quality in general), and the size is important.\nI do not like the performance: to be clear, this is not a hard drive for daily life and I would rather recommend it as a storage disk more than a second additionnal disk used everyday.
I have purchased WD 4TB Hard Drive \"wd4001faex\" I just can't believe it that Walmart changed my order to 3TB without my permission, without given me any notice or if I agree to it, nothing at all. This is fraud... Not only they charge money for it they send the 3TB and even the invoice note has been change to 3TB can you believe it, and they expect me to agree to it. I say NO... take the back 3TB and give all my money back NEVER BAYING From WALMART again. This is like new SCAM that walmart runs, sells you higher model and sends you lower for the same price and not only that but they also changed in their system that you purchased lower model for same amount. Good thing I have printed what I have purchased which proves THIS IS SCAM, and I do not accept scams so you just lost a customer.\nsee the image for prove
It's only been two weeks. Ask me again in 2 years. But, the drive is working perfectly for recording and playing TV shows. I was a little worried about the usb 2.0 port on my computer, but it has not caused any problems with HD recording and playback. The drive has a blue LED that lets you know it is getting power. It runs very quietly and gets warm to the touch. I did not set up the software that came with it and I don't need to. The drive did not require any setup. I just plugged it in and it worked on my windows 7 system.
