The d2 Quadra is my go to unit when I need more space. The 4TB with it's huge capacity, the model is very user friendly and easy to install, and with the included desktop manager you can configure the blue button to launch which ever application you'd like. Best purchase for storage.
Great value. The only minor issue is that the model # on the box and on the drive are different. The serial matches up, as does the warranty period as verified at the website (it took a bit of digging to get to the correct place to check).\n\nThis has been identified both in Walmart comments and at other vendor's customer reviews. I don't see a problem.
This is one great hard-drive!\nWhen I first got it I was constantly transferring and downloading video.\nThere have been times where this thing has ran for days and even weeks non-stop because I use it allot on a daily bases. From my 700+ movies and 1,200 or so television shows, 600+ Music Videos, 800-900 songs and with me being a digital graphics major, 10's of thousands of pictures. Not to mention with room for backing all my files from my 500GB laptop with still 308GB remaining. This thing holds 'ALLOT'!\nTransfers files quickly and has never gotten hot.\nI don't travel much with it #Thank goodness for that, because I'm a butter fingers!#\nThe few times I did take it I managed to drop it twice, about a height of 3 feet.\n#NOT RECOMMENDED ... LOL#\nBut the Canvio took the licking and kept on ticking.\nOnly problem I ever had with this unit #Even before dropping.# was \/ is that 'sometimes' - \"Not often\" the unit doesn't eject and turning the system off is the safest thing to do. This doesn't happen much and isn't a real bother because between work, entertainment, movies, television, music and everything else I use this drive for - for about 12-16 hours EVERY DAY - if I were ejecting it I would more likely be turning my laptop off anyways.\nFrom my review I know you have figured that I am very satisfied with this drive.\nI plan on buying another to back up this one.\nI've had mines for 7-8 months and it runs as good as day 1\nI'm writing this review now because 'I forgot' and returned with my fianc\u00E9' who just purchased one.\nSo stop wondering \"Is this a good and dependable drive? Will it be enough memory? Is it Butter-finger proof? Will it last?\n\"YOU GET YOUR MONIES WORTH AND THEN SOME\"\nSo add it to your cart and check-out and after you get your Canvio you can come back and say:\n\"This is one great hard-drive!\"
The hard drive is good but the way it was packed for shipping to the store wasn't so good. It appears someone simply put it in the bottom of a cardboard shipping box without any protective padding then filled the rest of the box with crumpled paper. When the box was opened, the hard drive was found in a corner of the shipping box, suggesting that it had slid around in the box a bit during transit.\n\nHard drives are delicate. Giving the hard drive rough handling will cause it to fail. In this case it was still working when received, however there are some concerns that the lack of protective padding when shipped to the store may shorten its working lifetime.
I ordered my first drive from Walmart at about $60 because I like the store pickup. The second one a couple of weeks later was $84 and would only let me order one at a time. I decided to go to Amazon at that point and the price was less than half as much. What I got from Amazon was not as new but I decided it was just over priced at Walmart, somehting I thought I would never say. Ususally if Walmart has it I don't bother looking for a better price anywhere else. My low ratings are all about the price being too high. The drive works and matches what is advertised and is recently manufactured within the year I bought it, while what I bought from Amazon was manufactured 3.5 years ago. So far ordering this model from different places has ended up with them all working about the same. The price disparity was large enough I decided I could give up being able to pick up the drive from Walmart and have it delivered to my door step.
What it holds: up to 2,000,000 photos, 857,000 songs, 1,575 hours of HD movies
Interface: USB 3.0, USB 2.0
What our shoppers say:
DO NOT BUY THIS GARBAGE
I thought I was getting a deal with getting this for $160 or so but as soon as I connected this to my PC and installed the drivers it does NOT show up on my computer for me to use and the blue light flashes meaning theres an error with the drive and this is coming right out of box not even connected for an hour. I will be taking it back to the store and exchanging it for a better brand. I NEVER should have bought this junk.
