It is just the right size I needed for a home office. It has one filling cabinet for my files which is all I need, a little drawer for my address book, and note pads. It is large enough to put my large printer on top next to the monitor. It took me several hours, well 3 days, since I only did a little at a time. They came in two packages, very heavy. Only problem is you have to drill additional holes to attach the hutch to the desk. The hutch is so heavy, it sits up there by itself. Only way it will fall is if someone pushes it. I will eventually get someone to attach it properly. Overall, a great piece of furniture for the price. I work from home and I needed a desk and hutch to set up in my bedroom so it fits perfect and love the open slots at the top of hutch to store papers, what-nots, etc. I actually left the right door off desk to house my CPU and router so they can breath. Once I put it on the desk it looks really nice I have room for my photo and printing paper. I left the backing off didn't like the cardboard wood grain, but I really like it off it leaves it open so I can see my wall so that's all good. I just wish they had the wood grain stickers to cover up the hardware but I'm still happy with it and it looks nice in my office area.

morningstar50 - 4 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchase1/20/2014I was not too impressed with my new desk and hutch...first the color is deceiving in the picture that is shown...it is darker than expected...it shows if it is a lighter oak colour but it is more like a reddish walnut colour....the drawers or should I say drawer....in the picture looks deceiving because it looks like you get two drawers not one and a storage cupboard....I had bought the unit because of the drawers!...then comes the set up....it took two of us 6 hours to put the desk and hutch together....there are too many little pieces.....it should be easier to put together! The pull out keyboard is too narrow and you have trouble putting your keyboard and your mouse side by side....It is very sturdy and I am sure it will last a long time...

The Hutch was pretty easy to put together, it looks great with the desk, the only negative is the backing is super thin pressed wood, it barely fits aross the back and is not 100% . It could be even 1/2 inch wider and would have been perfect. Still looks great overall, not that noticable unless you are right up to it.

All the holes, corners and edges lined up great when we finished assembling. My only complaint is that we ordered both the hutch and the desk together. No where in the instructions could we find to assemble the hutch first. Would've made overall assembly a little bit easier. Overall, still a good product. I would recommend.

The problem I found is that not all of the pre-drilled holes lined up when it came to adding the decorative moldings. Despite my best efforts I have some major gaps where the molding edges meet up. At first it looked like things were great. All the pieces were in very good condition. I spent over an hour building this hutch and when I when to put the top on, it was misdrilled. I called Ameriwood, they are replacing it, but again...7-14 days to replace the part. They are seriously ridiculous in how they solve problems and how they leave their "valued" customers hanging from mistakes they made.

The drawer guide would not allow the drawer to open all the way. The drawer handle predrilled holes make the handle crooked. The storage door hinges predrilled holes were too low so the door will not close. It is a long job to assemble the desk. It took my husband and a friend about 8 hours. The back of the desk is cardboard. The top table part of the desk is in two "slices" not one solid peice. Really disappointing and frustrating. I called Ameriwood ,the manufacturer and they were very friendly, and told me they would send me the door and drawer fronts and were very sorry for the trouble we had, but that is all they could do GREAT! BUT ONCE IT'S TOGETHER IT'S NICE AND STURDY, YOU WILL NEED A SECOND PERSON TO HELP PLACE IT ON THE DESK CAUSE IT'S VERY HEAVY LIKE THE DESK IS AS WELL.

Shame when you pay the money, take the time to put it together and you have to use a black permanent magic marker to cover up the finish. Not at all satisfied.

Then when I put the hutch together I found I was missing a cap screw but since it was saturday night and not one was open I tried to put it together anyway and broke the hutch so I had to rig it the best way I could and just have the hutch sitting on top of the desk.

No mention of this in desk instructions, but mentions it in hutch instructions. USE TWO PEOPLE when attaching to desk top, or be sorry. Will take quite a while to assemble, mucho parts. It SEEMS sturdy enough, but is cheap quality particle board, and the laminate is quite cheap also. hutch came well packaged, with many minor scars around edges to laminate...not real noticeable, but an indication of what is to come with actual use. OK for a "spare room" piece that won't get used much...I doubt it will hold up well to every day use. If used on a daily bas...
