Awful product - DO NOT BUY!!! I had been using a vacuum sealer from another manufacturer for about a year before that one died & I had to find a replacement. I found this one on Walmart & decided to try it.Big mistake!Plug it in, switch it on & the pump draws air out of the container. Leave it switched on & the pump activates every few minutes to maintain the vacuum level. The bottom of the container heats up & dries out the contents. Turn it off and air leaks back into the container almost immediately.My previous vacuum sealer would maintain the vacuum for days, so it could be switced off & the food would remain fresh. You could even place it inside a refrigerator!NOT RECOMMENDED - total waste of money 07/25/2009
can't afford to keep my $1.69 loaf of bread fresh! We don't eat much bread. Every time I buy a loaf I end up tossing about 1/2 so I was excited to find a gadget that may keep the bread longer. I did NOT buy mine from Walmart. I got it home & I plugged it in, pretty easy to use & clear instructions. I put my bread in, sealed it and marveled at my new gadget sitting on the counter. I'm sitting in the livingroom folding clothes and hear a noise. I go to investigate the strange noise, but it stops before I get to the kitchen and I'm puzzled. This happens several times, about every 20-30 minutes until I finally figure out it's the bread keeper repressurizing & resealing. I figured by the time it repressurizes and reseals for a few days, I could have just bought another loaf of bread.I donated mine to the food pantry's thrift shop and bought a vintage Tupperware Celery Keeper to keep my bread in and that works amazingly well.PROS:Looks goodNeat gadgetinteresting conceptCONS:takes up a LOT of counter space!pretty pointless for bread. with what you spend in electricity you can just buy another loaf of bread or apple or whatever you put in it. My suggestion buy less of whatever you need to keep fresh! 11/16/2011
