I am a big fan of gDiapers. I wanted to get them when I found out about them online, but I couldn't sell my husband on it because they were expensive. Instead, we tried the cloth route...failed and wasted a lot of money...then used disposables for a while. It bothered me that we were throwing so much away, so I went to a local baby store and found some of the pants/liners for sale there. We tried them out for a few weeks and decided it was manageable for us and for our parents when they watch our son. However, the flushable liners are more expensive than disposables. Thankfully, this large box of 4 packs is a MUCH better value than the single packs at our local baby store (I believe they are 5-8 cents less per liner). I bought three boxes - one for each grandmother to keep and one for our house. Buying them directly through gDiaper is expensive due to the shipping costs...it's cheaper to get them through Walmart! I still wish they were closer in price to disposable diapers though so that more people would consider using them.

We switched over to gdiapers around my daughter's 6 month mark. I wanted to try cloth, but my husband threatened to mutiny. These are a great compromise! The covers are absolutely adorable and the inserts work amazingly well. The covers are a little bit of an investment, but the sizes make it so you can use them for a really long time. I thought they were pinching her thighs, but it turned out I just needed to loosen the cover. Now, we have a happy and dry baby, happy ecofriendly feelin' momma and a happy dad who has agreed not to mutiny afterall. Yay for gdiapers!

These diapers are way better than disposables. Biodegradable and keep my baby's diaper rash away. They are an investment but only cost us $25-$30 a month because they don't need to be changed as often because they are so absorbent. Also the cloth outer layer is much more comfortable on the skin than the plastic disposables. I recommend them hands down over regular disposables.

I absolutely love gdiapers. I like the fact though that when I want to use the cloth ones they have, I can as well. The disposable inserts are ecologically conscious and absorb very well. If your child is a heavy wetter at nights, you can put two in the liner to minimize leaking. The other nice factor is that the disposables are comparable in price to regular disposable diapers. It also makes for easy changing since the outer cloth diaper has a snap-able nylon insert that you can preload with the disposable inserts.

This product is great. If you like the idea of helping the environment. It is wonderful. I like that I can dispose of the insert and not be worried what it is going to do to the planet.

    • A. I imagine they are. They break down as soon as they hit the toilet water and are entirely biodegradable.

    • A. No but we just toss ours in the trash when at home or flush when in public. We mostly only use washable liners at home and the disposables while on the go.

    • A. No. Do not use in a septic system or any building with old plumbing. Go to the gDiaper web site for more information.

    • A. No, they are not septic safe. They are compostable (urine diapers only) and actually add beneficial nutrients to your compost. Since they are biodegradeable, you can throw them away without hurting the environment.

    • A. Although our gDiaper refills have been flushed in septic systems for years in Australia, we would not want you to be the first to have a problem as a result of flushing in North America! We recommend composting the wet ones if you are able. If composting is not an option for you, just put the waste in the toilet and toss the rest, just to be safe. Even if you can't flush you can breathe easy knowing you won't be filling a landfill with a bunch of plastic diapers.

    • A. The g diaper company recommends putting the "stinky" in the toilet and the wet ones toss in the trash, just to be safe. This is what I do and I have been using them for about 8mths with no problem. I love G diapers!! Their website is very helpful. www.gdiapers.com

    • A. Depends on which brand you are buying, but yes it typically would be. That is why they offer cloth inserts which are more cost effective. These inserts offer convenience of not prewashing cloth inserts or have a disposable option when out and about.

    • A. The cost for disposable inserts is comparable to using regular disposables. But you have peace of mind knowing that there is no plastic in these so you are not filling landfills with something that will take a hundred years to decompose! You can either flush, compost, or throw these out. At home we use only the washable inserts and use these when on the go. Doing it that has proven to be far less expensive than disposable diapers!

    • A. If you are just doing disposable inserts and not cloth yes. The thing with these diapers is a regular diaper takes 500 years to biodegrade. The gDiaper is 3 months to a year depending on conditions.

    • A. They're priced similar to high-end brand name diapers. We also use the cloth inserts when we're at home to save on the cost of the disposable liners. If you purchase by the case, you save a little money over purchasing the packs seperate. The cost is SO WORTH not having to have garbage cans full of stinky diapers since the liners are flushable (as long as your plumbing system isn't a septic system or full of tree roots, etc.).

    • A. Yes, they are more expensive than offbrand diapers. This is an environmentally friendly option, not a cheeper option. I would recomend using cloth liners in the gdiapers if you are looking to save money or just buy cloth diapers. Using cloth in the gdiapers is nice, because you can then use the disposable liners when you are out. Personally I use other brand cloth diapers and use disposable off brand when we go out.
