It won't take you up hills very long without peddle power, but climbs hill quickly with peddle power.

Yes!! There is the option to use only the motor when you need it is called the TAG mode that is on your throttle.

Yes, there asre two modes: TAG (Twist And Go) which makes the bike work like a scooter; and PAS (Pedal ASsist), which helps you pedal up to about 20 mph.

If you just want to use it only for hills, keep it on PAS mode without using the throttle for your "I want to sweat" time. When you hit a hill, switch to PAS and go!

Well the bike does have a steel frame and the batts that come on this bike are SLAs (sealed lead acid) and each batt pack (you have the option to have 2) weights about 18 lbs. I heard that they have a new Lithium battery avail that is supposed to be ALOT lighter...

It is fairly challenging to pedal without the motor due to the weight of the bike. However, I noticed that the first gear is set up to make getting going pretty easy.

If you find yourself out of charge, prepare to sweat a bit.

The Charger and manual both say 6 to 8 hours, but the manual also says charge it a full 8 hours the first four times.

6-8 hours from full dead, charger is so small I just take it with me and charge it at work if its getting low, so if you are within 5 miles of work this is a perfect commuter.

Huge box arrived on time and was an easy build. Charged the battery up and in a few hours was on the road....I was amazed at how cool this electic bike moovved...then I noticed a strange noise coming from the transmission...rode back to garage for inspection. Flipped the bike over and noticed that the chain connecting motor to drive gear was bent at one link and about to break. I called currie technologies the next day and there suggestion was to take the bike to walmart as they have excellent personnel who assemble bikes and know what they are doing (they also sent me a replacement chain with no instruction on how to install the new chain). Took the bike to walmart and their "technician" had no idea how to handle this particular situation. While I was at Walmart I picked up a chain repair/kit tool and headed back home to do the repair myself. Luckily I am good with tools and basically I had to remove the motor from the frame, remove the chain, repair the chain, reinstall the whole thing and now its perfect. I ride between 3 to 15 miles almost everyday and I love it. It would have been amazing not to have gone through this whole process with the bicycle arriving busted but I am very pleased with the overall build quality...it is a heavy bike though so keep that battery charged and forget it if you have to carry it up stairs to anywhere.

best deal ever for an electric bike

This bike is everything I expected..... I knew it was the cheapest Ebike available.....Lower line components, heavier, etc.... But none of that matters when you twist the throttle...... This thing saves your legs, bigtime! It was very easy to assemble and just works great! I already purchased a second battery to double the range. There are mods you can do to this bike to increase the top speed.... go to ecoforumz.com..... I have almost 100 miles on it and no problems so far..... I recommend this bike to anyone who wishes to get an ebike for a low price..... I love this thing!!!!

Great value

I just got back from Europe . Everybody rides bikes over there and made me want to purchase a bike over here . I'm so glad I did . You might as well chalk it up , you're gonna buy another battery and it's so worth it . I get plenty of exercise when I need it , and when I do get tierd all I have to do is sit back and cruse . : ) It's a slick looking silver-grey bike . Love the look it has . It took me about 90 minutes to put it together . It wasn't near as hard as I thought it would be . It's Worth It!!

I Love my new Electric Bike!!

Received this bike 2 weeks ago. It took approximately 4 hours to put this together; the second bike took about 1 1/2 hours to put together. Not difficult, just a learning curve!
Been riding them and having a blast! Battery life varies depending on rider weight and how much you use the TAG finction. Great for riding around out small down town area and running errands!

TrailZ bike

I have had this E Bike for a few days now. Lets talk about battery life had my g.p.s. on the bike 12 mph and I ways also peddling ( using the electic motor for -assisted ) on level ground for the most part and after 21 miles the battery was about 3/4 the way dead but still running about 10 mph. I dont feel you could get any better E bike for the money. My wife rode my E bike and I justed order her one. This bike is great for parks and trails if you are looking for a cheap E bike this is a good one. Order the 2nd Battery and the cost was 119.00 with free shipping . I hope this helps for some of you looking for a e bike with the 2nd battery you could ride this bike to work. I did figure out that ever time you charge the battery from it being fully discharged it will cost about 12 cent to charge it back up I think that is very good cheaper than a moped

Great E Bike for the money

I've owned this bicycle for about nine months now, and it has performed exactly as advertised. I use it to commute to grad school (2 miles, each way) over very hilly terrain: having a trick knee, I cannot pedal uphill, so an electric bike was a perfect solution. It makes pedalling up a hill feel like pedalling on flat ground.

It was very easy to put together - I am *not* handy, but have been able to assemble and adjust it as necessary. It's very solid-feeling, and the electrical components have given me no problems.

A couple of warnings: first, it's a very heavy bike, not the sort of thing you'd want to be lifting into a car regularly. That makes it harder to ride without help from the motor. Second, the battery is not as wonderful as they make it out to be. I've ridden perhaps 400-500 miles (assisting the battery by pedaling all the time) and I need a new battery - it's down to about 3-4 miles of effective help (from an initial 10-12 miles). Part of that is my fault - I did a 12-mile ride that allowed the battery to completely discharge, and it never fully recovered. A new battery is expensive (down from $140 to $120 plus $25 shipping), but I'm getting a new one because I very much enjoy this mode of transportation.

Exactly what I needed

The product arrived quickly. It was easy to assemble. It's quiet and has a smooth ride. I've only had it a couple of weeks, but I really like it. I ride it to work (about 2 miles away). I had an IZip EZGo, but with such small wheels and no suspension, it kept busting spokes (and I only weigh 140 lbs). This bike has a smoother ride with its full-size wheels. This was the best price I could find for an electric bike.

I bought this bike from a Walmart store. Within a month the battery would not hold a charge. (I followed the charging instructions.) Walmart does not have replacement batteries. Currie Technologies will not help you. Replacement batteries cost $129.00.

Essentially I bought a heavy iron bicycle.

Expensive disappointment

For me, the milage range was far below their 15 mile range. After 3 miles, battery was dead. That was on city streets, no big hills and with back wind.
Also had flat on rear tire on my first ride from work. (all on city streets) Buying and installing a new tube was a nightmare for me. I hope it does better tomorrow when I ride it to work again.
