It picks up wireless from anywhere, for free. It can pick up any unlocked signal, like the library or a hotel, for free. Nothing else needed to buy but the zune.

Most def! I like my ipod but the zune is a lot louder and clearer!

This is louder than my IPOD touch. I also ordered an accesory pack and my son loves it he can share his music with the external speakers, he also can share with another person with the splitter to allow more than one person to plug in headphones

The volume goes high, but it really sounds like trash on high volume with the trashy earbuds they include.

And there are no built in speakers like there are in the iPod Touch.

You would probably have to buy some nicer high end headphones or portable speakers for what you're planning.
