We have indoor/outdoor carpet in the living room and it worked just fine. I'd say as long as your carpet isn't too thick or long it should work fine.

I think she might be a bit too old.. Try the Indominous Rex.. It&#39;s more for older children with different programmable modes that younger ones have a difficult time figuring out.. My 3 year old boy LOVED this for Christmas last year but has started getting bored with it now

OMG, my daughter's been asking for a pet which I've been hesitating till we got Zoomer Dino and it's been great. Boomer is the ferocious Zoomer Dino that only you can tame with real dinosaur movements, sounds, and dino sense responsiveness. Boomer can detect when you're interacting with him because you use your hands or the included controller to put him on attack or to tame his Dino nature. Just like a real dinosaur, Boomer can get angry, spin around, chomp his massive reptile jaws, and roar. You can train Boomer to dance, chase, chomp, and roar. Though, watch out because Boomer will let you know when he's angry if you pull on his tail then his eyes will light up to indicate if he's happy or mad. His eyes will turn blue when he senses your hand, turn purple while he's being trained, and go red when he's mad. Also, he's got perfect balance while exploring your home on two wheels. I would follow the age recommendation of 5 + because my cousin bought one for her son and he pulled on the tail too hard that he broke it off. It's got a USB charging cable included, and the remote control pod requires 3 AAA batteries.

This is a real fun toy to play with, my son was very excited when he knew that he was going to own one of these...he loves dinos!
Now, from the unboxing:
The dino comes very well packaged, the box protects him very well, and you should be careful when unpacking it, because the box is so nice that you wouldn't want to throw it away but use it as an storage again for your new dino.
Once unboxed, you will need 3AAA batteries (not included) for the remote controller, so be prepared so your kid(s) can start playing with it a bit once you unpack it. The dino itself doesn't uses disposable batteries but it recharges via an USB cable (very nice feature! I wish that this feature were available back in time when I was a kid!), you just need to plug the cable to your PC and in about an hour you are ready to play with it! Mine came with a little charge (usually in a factory, after the electrical toys are built, they test the toys that they produce, so mine had a little charge) and didn't wait for an hour for my kid to play with it.
When playing:
The dino comes with a controller so you can move it whenever you want, a joystick style one, or you can let him explore by itself and wander around while you interact with it.
You can pet him, or make him angry and his eyes turn red or just simply make him follow you as it were a little living pet. The dino makes some roar and dino-like sounds that are pretty nice, I would say rather very realistic.
If you control him manually, you can play with it as if it were a normal r/c "car" just press forward the joystick and control him! the control has a "biting" button o you can try to chomp near objects.
One of the features / characteristics that surprised me was the technology involved in this little dino to make him stay stood, because it has 2 wheels (not feet) and it stays stood almost all the time, I mean almost because when it senses that it is falling forward it balances itself not to fall down, and when it does, you just need to push a button and it will stand again! Very nice.
So the verdict would be that it is a very fun toy to play with, my 6yo son loves him as if it were another pet in the house!
Highly recommended, would make happy any kid in this upcoming Christmas!

Fun, my son loves it

I was a bit hesitant to order this toy for my son. For his birthday, he had received a remote control car, which didn't run very well on our carpeted floors. Surprisingly, this little dinosaur glides effortlessly across carpet. It really does balance on two wheels quite well. For the most part, it is able to stand back up on it's own, and it very rarely topples over on it's back.

The age on the box reads "5+", but my son is only three years old, and he loves this. My son is a bit difficult to buy for since he doesn't like the simple "baby" toys and wants anything with buttons, plugs, moving parts, etc, and finding something that meets his criteria and is safe for a toddler can be difficult. His speech isn't the clearest yet, so he is able to play with the Zoomer Dino better than the Zoomer Puppies. The Zoomer dogs interact with voice commands, but this Dino is different. Not only does it have a remote control, but it does not work with voice commands. Instead, it has sensors and responds to motion.

The only down side to this is the length of the battery life. It charges using a USB cable, which was included, and it takes roughly a half hour to charge fully, but then it only runs for about an hour. This might be the only issue that makes this toy more appropriate for ages five and up. My son didn't immediately understand why he couldn't play with it while it was plugged in. The lights in the eyes are red when it is first plugged into the charger, but when it is fully charged they turn green.

Honestly, I don't mind the short battery life. As a parent I have learned that no matter how cute something electronic looks and sounds, after too long it gets obnoxious. With this toy, the parents get a break. It is a darling toy though. The eyes light up a several pretty colors, and it makes very cute noises (growls, a sort of bark, a couple bird-like noises, farts, and burps) and it's movements are really neat.

A really well-made entertaining toy

On our first look out of the box, the Zoomer Dino was a little bit smaller than I thought he would be but I think this actually helped for him to be this size! It helps him in getting around the room a lot better than a bigger toy would. Most importantly - you MUST read the instructions that come with him to make him respond to you and you MUST charge him on the power cord that comes with him overnight for the best results - it does not take batteries! He charges with a USB cord that attaches to your computer. He does come charged right out the box but it did not last very long as we tried to learn how to get him started. If you plan on purchasing this toy I would definitely suggest look into getting a USB wall charger. We just used the one we use with our cellphones so a spare would be more convient. As soon as they took Zoomer off the charger and tried to control him he rushed across the room, faster than any toy I ever thought possible (even the remote controlled cars we have had!) but it didn't take long for them to get control of him! This is why i think this toy would not be suited for very young children because of how quickly it can move. We also LOVED the little sounds that comes out of Zoomer and it really does sound just like he is barking sometimes! He does this when he's really mad and it made everyone giggle. My grandson loved that his eyes change color with his moods. (His sounds also change with his eye colors or when his mood changes.) The remote control makes it easy for the guys to control him better although it would be much harder for a child under 6 to control this remote as well as some adults because it's small. and i feel I must stress this again - we did not expect it but Dino ZOOOOOMS as the name implies! We thought he would move slowly as a real dino would move but that is not the case. My grandson had so much fun with him! The technology of this toy is absolutely amazing and will be money well spent! Over all, this toy was fun for my grandson, easy to operate, low charging time, and best of all no batteries so we all gave it "two thumbs up"! Even our grown-up friends like to play around with him when they come over and are amazed at what he does.

The best part about our new "pet" -
we don't have to feed it, walk it, or clean up after it.

My son loved this toy! It acts like a puppy even archs neck & wiggled tail when he pet it. So many giggles from my son when it burped! Very life like and built very sturdy. I think this toy will last and keep a child's interest for a very long time. Very cute!!
