flimsy I bought this bed for my 3 1/2 yrs old son. The support wood peices that go across the bed are very weak and the screws on the support legs came off on 3 of them with a result the bed is flimsy and not sturdy. the middle wood that goes across the bed is so weak, my husband had to reenforce it with a couple of 2x4 just to stabelize it and stop the shaking. the instructions were great 06/15/2009
Deceiving! This bed looks nice, and is a great value for the money. But you get what you pay for, so do read on. Firstly, make sure you have a dark brown Sharpie on hand for touch up. The finish is not of great quality. The factory packaging is okay, but not the best. My biggest complaint is that the side rails come in two pieces rather than one. Therefore needing a VISABLE support on either side of the bed (these are included by the manufacturer). These must be installed for support, they are not optional. Besides being an eye sore, they are also a toe stubber! See my photo's attached. The reason I state that it is deceiving is because when you look at the manufacturers display photo of the bed, they are not attached. Nor are they mentioned in the product description. My husband also had to install additonal slats and supports in the center of the bed because the ones that are included just don't seem to be strong enough. Disappointing We bought 5 matching pieces of walnut zzz place. It looked great on the Internet, but the actual products were of poor material, poor workmanship, and poorly packaged. Let me say in advance that I love Walmart, and buy groceries and everything else I can there. I literally go to my local Walmart almost every day.First we opened the bed and immediately noticed that the headboard had a gash in it. I thought "well OK, that happens, we will just call the 800 number and get this one part replaced".So we then opened the dresser and immediately noticed that it had scratches, perhaps from the shipping, but even worse were places that were just obviously poor workmanship, splotches where the finish hadn't been applied well. I thought "well OK, that happens, we will just exchange this one item."Next we opened the desk/hutch and immediately noticed that the entire front of it, including the drawer face, was just shattered! I mean broken clean through. What was worse than the obviously bad shipping and handling, was that part of the reason it was in such bad shape was that the material was very poor, it was made from "pressboard" that was just one step above being thick cardboard.A note about the shipping containers: the parts were separated by the cheapest styrofoam I have ever seen. As we took parts from the box, the foam padding literally just disintegrated into thousands of tiny bits that went all over the room and took an hour to clean up.At this point, we had opened 3 of the 5 items, and each one was worse than the one before, so I decided to just take the whole shipment back to Walmart. To their credit, even though we had picked the items up at a Walmart two hundred miles away, my local Walmart took the items back and gave me full credit with no hassle. They even sent someone out to help me carry it all in from my truck. 09/01/2009
Horrible buy!! I bought two beds and two dressers Summer 09 for my 15 yr and 10 yr old sons. Not bad to assemble but within a few months of my 10 yr old sleeping on his new bed all of the support legs started falling down. Same thing happened to my 15 yr old jus last month. Now the frames are useless and they are sleeping on the mattresses on the floor and the frames are taking up space in our hallway. As for the dressers, the support legs are the same way very lose. Tried to move one of the dressers and a leg fell off causing the dresser to fall over and all the drawers fell out. Then I noticed one of the wheels on the inside of the dresser came off too. I spent $800 on these four pieces and if I would have known they would have only lasted for 8 months I would have spend thousands to get good year lasting quality. Very disappointed!!! 02/22/2010
