I bought these bikes for my three year old nephews. These were their first bikes and they loved them. The are small so recommended for 2-4 year olds. They aren't cheesy looking at all, the plastic is nice and does represent the Yamaha Dirt Bikes very realistically. These do not come assembled so make sure you have some tools around. The assembly was easy, my husband put both bikes together in about an hour or so. My nephews LOVE their new "dirt bikes" and I couldn't be happier with the purchase.

This was a christmas gift for my 2 year old (26month). This was his first bike and learned to ride in just one day. The seat allowed for him to sit forward and close to the pedals. It is perfect for kids who are just learning to ride a bike because of the seat. The crank was a bit tight so I had to loosen so he could pedal easier. I'm sure it would have broken in eventually. It is a little bit heavy but that doesn't seem to bother him. I really like how it looks just like a Yamaha. Now he gets to ride a bike that is just like his dad's Yamaha. Very cool bike, highly recommended.

Our son, Finn, turned 3 on August 28th of this year, and he is now riding this bike without the training wheels! He started with Walmarts WeeRide balance bike and then when he was 2.5, we bought him the Yamaha. Now he is riding with no help and loves it! Great bike, YAMAHA! Althought there's no motor, Finn feels like a motorcycle racer now. : ) Check him out-- http://youtu.be/6kw0LoLezrc

    • I bought this for my two year old who is 34" tall, if your 4 year old is much taller I wouldn't recommend it because the seat seems to be unadjustable

    • my son is 3 and he fits perfect, so I can bet a 4 year old would fit perfect also. :)

    • My son is 3 1/2 and about 41 inches tall and it fits him perfect. Since the seat doesn't adjust we may only get 1 yr out of it but I wanted him to be able to get on and off on his own plus for the price and how cool it is, it's worth it. If your child is taller there is a red 16" version available.

    • This bike is best for 2/3 year old 4 year olds would be better with a 16" bike. Unless your child is very small for 4.

    • I would say it's too small. But depending on the child's height it could be okay. It's a perfect size for my 2 yr. old but too small for my 4 yr. old..

    • I bought this for my 4 year old grandson who is of average size. The bike is entirely too tiny! Now I have to exchange it.

    • 2-4 years should probably use a small tricycle much like the nostalgic red ones. These will help the child become familiar with pedaling a bike as well as steering. 3-5 years should progress to a 12 inch bike once he/she has mastered the tricycle. These bikes usually come with training wheels that can be removed for the next stage. 4-6 years may be ready for a bike that is 14 inches depending on the size of your kid. However, training wheels usually don't come with this size. I recommend the training wheels for a four year old so that the child can become comfortable with the bike he/she will learn to ride without the training wheels. This will make for a much smoother transition because a child this young may associate a new bike without training wheels as too hard and may become too afraid to try a regular bike until a little later in life.
