Some would say you could just buy a Playstation 3 if you want to play games online for free. But if the recent attack on the Playstation Network has taught us anything, it's that you get what you pay for. I know I pay $60.00 every year to make sure some hacker doesn't get my personal information and credit card numbers. With the Xbox 12 month gold card, you're actually getting 12 months, PLUS one free month. With your $60.00, you are assured all the features that come with a gold membership. Netflix, Hulu Plus, ESPN, Zune, Online gaming, Messaging, and not having your identity stolen. Sure, you could get all these features with the Playstation 3, and for free..., but with my $60.00, I am assuring that Microsoft will use the money to better protect the Xbox Live network from unauthorized access.

This is not my first order with WalMart.com and they always come through in a timely manner. The 12Month Gold Card was 10.00 cheaper online than in the store. It is exactly what it says it is and is a good buy for my XBOX gamer.

The 12 month Xbox Live renewal card is the best way to keep online, but with Walmarts price it is so economical as well. I will never put my credit cards on any gaming site for security reasons. We have multiple gaming systems in our house, so Walmart is the place I purchase the cards to keep the systems going, LIVE. I recommend online cards since Sony's breach in online gaming security. Its a safer and much better deal, buying on Walmart.com.

xbox illiterate so would like to know if this product is necessary to play games online with friends. My 10 year old says he cannot play with friends that he has made after his trial period expires...is this true? Thank you

    • A. You must have an Xbox Live Gold account to play games across the Xbox Live network with friends, and to access additional content such as Netflix.

    • A. Your son is correct. You must have a gold membership to play online. Without the gold membership, he can still play the game, but he will be playing alone. You can buy a year of gold for $48 on Walmart website. They also have deals at xboxlive.com.

    • A. We buy them ahead of time and normally wait until the current membership expires before we enter a new code. But we might have added a new membership code while still active on one occasion and, if we remember correctly, it just extended the current membership.

    • A. You can enter both in at one time and it extends your membership, the same goes for any length (2 day ones, 1 month, 3 months, etc.) Sometimes you will get sample one in games and can extend your membership a couple days too. So it is best to buy a couple while they are on sale because you can extend your membership out for the two years.

    • A. aloha - this is a good question, I almost purchased another Gold Live membership to test this. But then another gamer told me that because of each unique number on the cards, it'll ADD to your one current account / Gamer Tag ID. So you should get 2 years of membership life using 2 seperate Gold Live cards towards the same account. Happy Gaming!

    • A. Yes you can. But every time you change consoles you must download your profile to the new console, which will take a few minutes depending on how many games you have played because it has to load all of your achievement points and stuff. To go back to the first console and play, you will then be required to download the profile again. Basically, you can use it on as many different consoles as you want but only one at a time.
