Some would say you could just buy a Playstation 3 if you want to play games online for free. But if the recent attack on the Playstation Network has taught us anything, it's that you get what you pay for. I know I pay $60.00 every year to make sure some hacker doesn't get my personal information and credit card numbers. With the Xbox 12 month gold card, you're actually getting 12 months, PLUS one free month. With your $60.00, you are assured all the features that come with a gold membership. Netflix, Hulu Plus, ESPN, Zune, Online gaming, Messaging, and not having your identity stolen. Sure, you could get all these features with the Playstation 3, and for free..., but with my $60.00, I am assuring that Microsoft will use the money to better protect the Xbox Live network from unauthorized access.

This is not my first order with WalMart.com and they always come through in a timely manner. The 12Month Gold Card was 10.00 cheaper online than in the store. It is exactly what it says it is and is a good buy for my XBOX gamer.

The 12 month Xbox Live renewal card is the best way to keep online, but with Walmarts price it is so economical as well. I will never put my credit cards on any gaming site for security reasons. We have multiple gaming systems in our house, so Walmart is the place I purchase the cards to keep the systems going, LIVE. I recommend online cards since Sony's breach in online gaming security. Its a safer and much better deal, buying on Walmart.com.

Great price for 12 month Gold Card XBL. Much cheaper than the $60 pricetag in store at gamestop, target, best buy, etc. What sweetens the deal is the free site-to-store shipping walmart offers to any local walmart in your area. Granted with this free shipping it takes anywhere from a week to a week and a half before it arrives. So order in advance if you know ur XBL is going to expire soon and you cannot wait a week.

When I looked around, I could only find X-box live time selling anywhere from $50 and above. However, just by ordering it online I saved over $10, with no catch. There was no shipping charge because I had it sent to the store. I will definiatly buy it again next year!

We love our Xbox live and it works fantastic. Just as a heads up though the 12 Month membership is available to buy from Xbox Live for $35 and change compared to the $39 and change we paid online from Walmart, but it's not a huge difference.

    • A. aloha - I believe the Live membership cards do NOT expire. Each card has a coded number and it's unique to that card. I had my Live Gold card for about 8 months, then applied it, no problems. We had a 48 hour membership card from 2+ years ago, we applied it and it still worked. : ) Happy Gaming!

    • A. aloha - you will NOT need an ethernet cable, wireless internet access is all that is needed to play on Live. Now IF by chance the wireless connection cuts in and out a lot - called 'lag time' - during game playing, then I would suggest a direct connection via the ethernet cable, if it's not running down the middle of the living room, haa.

    • A. As far as I know all he needs to play online is a gold membership and a connection to the internet, whether this be wireless or through an ethernet cable. The problem is whether or not he has a wireless card for his xbox. I know on my version you have to buy a wireless card, which runs around $100 bucks and wireless internet. If he has the card he doesn't need the cable, but if he doesn't have the card then he does need the cable, which could be connected into his wireless router. (For new versions of the xbox with internal memory, I don't know if you need to buy the wireless card or not.) http://www.walmart.com/ip/Xbox-360-Wireless-N-Network-Adapter-Xbox-360/14962351

If he has wireless internet (if he currently has Xbox Live silver or a trial gold membership - he is connected) and can connect the Xbox to it wirelessly, all he has to do is activate the card.

    • A. Yes you can. But every time you change consoles you must download your profile to the new console, which will take a few minutes depending on how many games you have played because it has to load all of your achievement points and stuff. To go back to the first console and play, you will then be required to download the profile again. Basically, you can use it on as many different consoles as you want but only one at a time.
