A Good Product for New 360 Owners

Ok...To start this review I would like to say that I personally own all three consoles(360, Wii, PS3). So i have been there and tried all three. Now the new 360 is amazing. I love the new vents. The 360 S puts out so much hot air, so be careful what you put it next too. The 250 Gb hard drive is plenty enough room for even the most avid video watcher. Love the new controller. I have only had it for like 2-5 days, but have logged like 20 hrs of game time already. The only thing I have noticed is not as great as advertised is the wireless card. It is not as strong as i wish it could be. If you are planning on placing it across the house from the router then plan on picking up the network adapter. I still had mine so it wasnt a deal breaker for me. This system is kinect ready so that was great for me and i am excited to see that come out. Overall I would highly recommend if you can find this and are planning on picking up your first 360 or are looking for a bigger hard drive or kinect this holiday season, This is definitely the system for you.

One of the best consoles you want to buy its easy to setup also, this xbox 360 come with built-in 802.11 wireless N speed fastest downloads will only takes 15min but it depend on you ISP bandwidth tho. plus Xbox live is Awesome!! you get in to early MP demos and discounts on Xbox live arcade games/DLC content. Amazing console for the price, I also have a PS3 but the downloads take forever to download a demo and the price for PSN plus is 50 bucks a year only with 3 months 7.99 but you still have to paid 50 buck after the end of that 3 months time point.

I love this new xbox. I had my son playing it since 3pm it is now 1:35am It really runs quite and it just heats up like a computer does no biggie. I still want a ps3 cuz some of my friends have it. But for real you guys this new 360 is silent the wifi works really great. i hope the ps3 dont run loud, because I can just stay with my ps2. I just wish ps2 members can play online with ps3 members. That would really be just great. lol

A Big Improvement Over The Old 360
7/2/2010

Customer review by grita6689

I have had the original Xbox 360 for 4 years. Basically the launch version, with the 13 gb hard drive. It was really loud, heated up pretty quick and didn't have a whole lot of memory. Well it just died on me last week for the second, and last, time (Red Ring of Death/3 Red Lights whatever you want to call it). And since I'm out of the 3 year warranty for that hardware failure, I figured it would be better to just go get a new Xbox instead of paying $100 and waiting a month or more to "fix" my old one (I sent it in once before for the exact same issue, and it obviously wasn't cured). So I went and bought this new version of the 360. The design is very sleek and the 250 GB hard drive is a godsend, especially if you're used to the 13 GB one. And I think the best part is how quiet it is. The fans on my old 360 could be heard over movies and games, now I can't even tell if it's on. The controller is basically the exact same as all 360 controllers, except black and a little different center button. The power cable has a different port to the Xbox, so you won't be able to use a power cord from the previous versions of the 360. And this particular one I bought didn't come with HD composite A/V cables. Despite that though I would definitely recommend this to new Xbox 360 users, and to those who have experienced the Red Ring of Death and need a new Xbox. Trading up from an Xbox Elite however might not make a whole lot of sense unless you're trying to avoid an overheated Xbox or you're in desperate need of a quieter system.

Traded in my old 360, got tired of all the overheating issues, and hearing a jet engine in the room. The new console is a million times more quiet, and I've ran it for well over 13 hours without an overheat. As far as the singe one star review because it lacks blu-ray. You should understand that Sony owns the rights to blu-ray and will not hand it over to Microsoft. (At least with/out a huge slice of sales) So don't expect blu-ray anytime soon. XBOX live and gameplay is what puts Microsoft above Sony. Plus, if your a member of Netflix you get HD steaming movies for free so no big deal.

Just small correction to the reviewer "transfer998." I wanted to make sure people did not get the wrong info. Built in Wi-Fi: The new Xbox 360 is the only console with 802.11n Wi-Fi built in for a faster and easier connection to Xbox LIVE. "Compatible with b/g/n" networks. It is compatible with any wireless router. I have a wireless G router and it works fine. Great product too. Worth the upgrade if you have an older xbox360.

The new design looks great, runs great, and fixes all the flaws. Many people keep complaining about it running hot. This is not accurate. The console is not running hot, its outputting the heat that the graphics processor is putting out. There is a difference between the two. Running hot means the motherboard is overheating and running the risk of damage. Outputting heat means that the unavoidable heat created by the processors is getting out and not damaging the board. This is a huge improvement over the previous gen console. As long as you don't stack stuff on top of the fan this console can run for days without any heat problems. The built in Wifi and huge harddrive(great for games on demand) makes this console a total win. Anyone who says otherwise is just bitter that they didn't make them this way sooner.

Microsofts orginal xbox was a great console, but it had its problems, like it was loud as a mac truck and it sometimes got the red ring of death. Microsoft has fixed all those problems, the new console looks great, is whisper quiet and meets all the standards of a great gaming concole. My hats off to Microsoft.

This xbox is really cool looking a much better improvement over the late xbox's. The very first thing that stands out about this baby is when you take it out the box it's tiny. I recommend this console to anyone who doesn't have one. If you do have a old xbox donate it to a kid who can't afford one and enjoy the new one.

I love the new xbox 360's upgrades and features. I've been an xbox owner for years, and time and time again was never completely satisfied. With this 360 I have all of the storage I need, built-in wifi, sleeker design, and no fear of the RROD. --------- I used site-to-store to pick up my xbox, as all the stores in my area were sold out, and I didn't want a $300 console delivered to my door. The site to store was easy and arrived a week early! They use Fedex and i was able to pick it up 4days after the purchase.

They make the wireless adapter that you can plug into the xbox but will set u back 88 dollars. Here is the model number of the wireless adapter PHD-00001. The new xbox 360 slim is 30 dollars less and has built in wifi. Either decision is a good one. Have a great day Jared From Store #2576

  • A. No, the kinect doesn't come out until 11/04/10. Although this console has a plug in the back just for the kinect which allows you to plug it in directly. All other xbox 360's will have to use the kinect's own power supply which is supposedly another "brick". Myself personally do not want another power supply and heat source behind my 47" flat panel that already generates enough heat on its own.
