After returning a Phillips dual dvd player, because the unit does not come with a remote (ridiculous isn't it?), I purchased the overhead XO Vision GX2156B. This is absolutely the best buy I have made. I had installed for $200. I can here the sound through my Ford Explorer's speakers, the picture quality is gorgeous, the unit is heavy duty quality good. I haven't used the gaming option, but did listen to a CD and this was no disappointment. It sounds great, looks great, great purchase. I would definitely recommend this product. Next I will purchase the wireless headphones, this way my husband and I can listen to music and the kids can watch dvd's.

I have bought headrest tvs, but none compare to this. My daughter, and I love this monitor. There is no wires hanging to plug into the cigarette lighter, and no straps on the monitors leaning on the headrest of my van that I got tired of tighteing to sit up straight. This monitor came with built in amplifier, so all we had to do was, find the radio station number that it gives you, and the sound is through my van speakers. No, extra money spent on someone wiring to get the sound. It doesn't come with built in speakers, so that's why it's compatible with your radio station. My radio light don't work, so I had to keep turning channels, until I heard the voice from the dvd that was playing, so I programed it. I also purchased the wireless headphones, but haven't received them yet. The price and quality of this monitor is worth it. I will refer this product to anyone interested in flip down monitor.

I purchased this overhead dvd player as a replacement for my 9" overhead player. The foot print is smaller than my 9" and the ring where the 9" was is still there. The description gives you product in inches but not mounting dimensions. I was thinking bigger screen bigger mounting area needed. Overall the picture quality is great and the screen is bigger than before. Does not have built in speakers but there are grills if you want to purchase small speakers to mount in the unit. Installed myself and if you are planning on doing this by yourself you will need longer screws to mount it to the metal bracket that holds it to the ceiling. Overall happy with the unit for what it cost me.

I purchased this 2 weeks ago. My husband took 4 hours to install it into our minivan by watching youtube. He wired it directly to the radio and we also purchased wireless headsets for long trips. It really is a great buy for the price! Quality LCD & wireless headphones are a great combo!

I will start by saying that at the moment there is a defect in the unit I got and I am swapping it out through the manufacture, but as long as the replacement is solid I wouldn't hold that against them... everyone has a defect or 2. I did the installation myself on a 2004 Yukon XL Denali. I installed it right where the center dome light was (behind the sun roof). Because the GX2156B only has 2 wires (one for power and one for ground), there is no way to hook it up so light will come on and off with the rest of the dome lights. If that is important you may want to look for a different product. The power feeds both the DVD and light, so unless you want to find the wires to the dome light in the unit and splice them out separately it's not going to be possible (and in that scenario you would lose the ability to switch the light on and off from the switch on the back of the unit). In our case there are enough regular dome lights in the truck we felt we would be fine just switching the light on and off as needed. To get the unit properly installed I needed to create C shaped brackets for my truck. There is structure near the rear of where the dome light was and it was attached right behind the fabric... so it was right where I needed it on the back side. The front, however, had no structure directly behind the foam. It did have a metal cross-bar about an inch above that... so I needed the small C shaped brackets to lower my mount point to be level with the headliner. If you are not handy and you have a Yukon similar to my year, you may want to get it professionally installed. Now if you DO, even a professional might miss this next thing. (this is gonna be pretty technical) When I wired the DVD, the dome light had 3 wires to use. One is a constant power wire that lets you switch the center lights in the dome on and off no matter what. The second was a power wire that only got hot when the rest of the interior lights were on... like when you open the doors or hit the key fob. The 3rd was the ground wire. I didn't need the "door" wire since there was no way to just have that feed power to the lights by themselves. If I used that wire for the whole player, the unit would just turn off whenever the interior lights went off. So I just taped that one up and put it aside. My Yukon has a cool feature that saves you from killing your battery if you accidentally leave the dome lights on. After like 10 minutes, all power is killed to the dome lights... even the constant hot wire that you will be using to feed the DVD player. I didn't think this would be a problem because nobody will be watching the DVD when the car is closed up and off. However, I quickly realized a major problem: the power was NOT coming back ON when I would open the car back up once that timer had flipped off the power. This was baffling at first. Even after starting the truck the power would not return to the DVD. The only way I was able to get the power back on was to pull the in-line fuse on the hot wire of the DVD and then put it back in. That would trigger the power to come back on. I theorized that the system was set up so that some kind of interruption in the power was used as a trigger to tell it to turn the power back on. So I thought perhaps it relies on the "door" wire, which goes live when the door is open (and is not affected by the timer). So I wired the "door" wire in with the "constant" wire and the red power wire on the DVD. Now, when the timer activated and cut the power, opening the door triggered the power to be restored to the DVD player. Only one problem... wiring the "door" and "constant" wire together sends power back through the "door" wire and the effect is that the interior lights no longer go off when you close the doors or even use the fob to lock the truck up. They would literally just stay on until the timer hits in about 10 minutes. Not good. Most professional installers would probably get around this issue by running a new power feed directly from the fuse box. That will certainly work... BUT if you or your kiddies forget to turn off the DVD player or the light... bye bye battery... no timer to save you. So instead I came up with a different solution. I theorized that all I really need to solve all my problems here is for the power between the "door" wire and the "constant" wire to flow only ONE WAY. I want power from the "door" wire to go to the "constant" wire when the interior lights come on so it triggers the power to come back on once the timer has shut things off, but I do NOT want the power from the "constant" wire to flow back to the "door" light (which was causing the interior lights to stay on). A diode is a little device that does exactly what I was looking for. I went to Radio Shack and picked up a 12V 3AMP rectifier diode. I soldered a wire to either side and then used some shrink tubing to protect it. Then I took the "door" wire out of the wire nut with the "constant" wire and the DVD hot wire and put in the new wire I just made with the diode (just make sure it is going the right direction). The other side got wire-nutted to the "door" wire. This set up worked like a charm for me. Now I realize this may not be a viable solution for most people who don't like to geek out on things like this. If you have it professionally installed, my guess is that even they will not be happy with this unit's simple 2 wire setup. They should have at least run a separate wire for the lights (through the built in switch) and then made the switch with 3 positions (one for "light with door", one for "on" and one for "off". Even if they did that, however, I am not sure the timer problem would be solved unless they had an internal connection between the lights and the constant power feed with a diode in between. That timer will probably throw a monkey wrench into the mix with just about any DVD unit. Good luck!
